I am truly sorry for your loss... it is one of those things we cannot prepare ourselves for.
I believe you did the right thing, re-arranging your life to spend time with her and make her feel loved... that is all we can do for them.
I watched my Mom pass in 1990, and my Dad in 2012. It is one of those things... while the impact of the emotions passes... we never forget those last minutes.
I believe she is in a better place now, and watching you with admiration for your sacrifices for her. Tell her goodbye when you are ready... she will know.

My condolences. It does get easier as time goes on but there are those "days" when it all falls apart again. Those "days" make us remember all the past good times.
