I've been doing sales/account management/project management for a HVAC/R contractor for going on 6 years. Approximately 30 technicians.
80% of our book of business is directed by me, organically sold by me, quote every major job, deal with facilities directors 24/7, etc. No design/build stuff, all spec'd out for the most part, not a lot of new builds, mainly retros, lots of HVAC, lots of refrigeration.
I'm young, but a quick learner. BS degree in Business. HVAC Excellence/NATE certified/RSES member, etc. I do not have a lot of controls experience. As far as education, I've been to Emerson Einstein classes as well as JCI classes, I'd say I'm fluent on Einstein, and just enough to be dangerous with metasys, but definitely not fluent.
Now to get to the question...all that being said, we do very little when it comes to any controls. I'm very interested into getting into that side of the business, but I don't see it happening where I'm at all. This is mainly due to a older work force. Any suggestions on how I get my foot into the door with a controls company? Looking for advice.
