I know with the apion you really need to push it in to get it to lock on. That may be what you need for the yj.

Have you tried squeezing the plunger forks down slightly?

    it's almost always user error

if your CRT has seals in good condition, trust them. its a real eye opener on just how loose the tool can be and still be leak free. think about it. the seal at the gauge end deforms more and more as its tightened down.

think about it, it cant expand lengthwise, it cant expand it's outer diameter. it can only reduce the seals inner diameter

this is what is catching the core and pulling it off the plunger, and at the same time the plunger is now tearing the seal apart. all the while your cussing out the tool.

next time leave the tool on as loose as possible while removing and installing the core. makes life a lot easier
my boss thinks its possible to repeal the laws of physics

I have had no problem with Appion.
Can someone please explain to me -
Why is there never enough time to do it right the first time, but plenty of time to do it twice?

I have 2 that are at least 10 years old.
I finally replaced the port gaskets. (18973)
I had to order them and wait. Now I have spares and I’m going to order 2 rebuild kits.
18974 is the rebuild kit for it.
18973 is a 5 pack of gaskets where it screws in to the port.
