Exclamation need help ASAP with TRANE A/C unit

    Hi,
My husband and I have a TRANE A/C unit in our house. a few days ago the A/C stopped working (we still have heat if we turn that on). We did some research and found that if we pushed the button in the middle of the connector, it would kick on. so we replaced the connector. We made no progress. It still requires us to actually push that button in to make it run. What is wrong with it and how do we fix it?

You fix it by KEEPING YOUR HANDS OFF IT! ARE YOU TRYING ELECTROCUTE YOURSELF?

Call a repair man. Air conditioners are NOT owner serviceable.

And the rules of the site which are clearly stated are NO DIY.

Shirley, this is not a DIY site. It's in the signup that new posters agree to when they join.

What you are doing is exposing you to voltages that can easily be fatal.

    Call a professional, now.

    Jeez,

The "middle connector" has safety devices to PROTECT the equipment before it is ALLOWED to CONNECT.
