    Goodman heat pump defrost problem

    Goodman Model VSZ130630.
Won't go into defrost. I shorted test pins on board. Compressor and Fan stop. Compressor comes back on but fan does not. Changed board. Same problem. Any ideas?

Is it running in defrost mode when it comes back on?

Sounds like quiet shift defrost to me. How long are you waiting for the fan to energize?
Perhaps you should have read the instructions before calling.

In will not come back on at all. The compressor is off for about 30 seconds. I don't think reversing value shifts, but fan never does come back on.

May take 14 minutes before it will come out of defrost. the compressor will stop again, and then the compressor and fan will both start.

I suggest keep a cheap stopwatch. When waiting for something to happen, time goes by slow and i have found that this keeps me on track while waiting. Does not seem to take as long waiting.

Are you sure it doesn't have quiet shift.

If it doesn't, what have you checked with a meter.
