Okay R123. I understand that under "normal" conditions the refrigerant is at or below 0 psig. And in the event of an over pressure situation (uncontrolled hot water circulation, fire, technician stupidity etc.) the rupture disc prevents the barrel from becoming a bomb by relieving the pressure to the atmosphere. I was referencing an earlier post about using the rupture guard and a rupture disc. Essentially though, a Rupture Guard is a combination rupture disc and resettable relief valve. Correct?
So, is there a reason or benefit to using a Rupture Guard over just using a rupture disc? I appreciate the explanations thus far.
