IMO, Comfortech is basically a salesman's convention.....like a whole bunch of amway evangelists gathered under one roof purveying HVAC wares.

It hurts the brain.....thats just my opinion though.

AMWAY salesmen? Really. How do you compare 2,000 HVACR contractors gathered together to network, get educated, see new products, and have fun an AMWAY convention. I've been to such conventions, sir, and Comfortech is no AMWAY convention.

Just a loose comparison as my example. Yes many contractors attend, but the booths consist of factory/manufacturer sales reps that are in competition.

Basically,Its a sales convention with reps claiming to have the best flat rate systems, equipment, and accessories in HVAC-R. Then they have amway seminars telling you the best ways to market their products and increase your sales. They hand out shiny pens, binders, and stationary too.

The fun part is getting together with folks here though and being surrounded with people with a common interest and experiences.

Actually coolwhip -- this isn't correct. Manufacturers DO NOT have seminars a Comfortech. The seminars are all taught by other contractors or by consultants. This has always been the case since we started the event nearly 20 years ago. I should know: I put the program together. A manufacturer could sponsor something called a Business Opportunity Session which were presentations -- typically on technology. There were never more than five or six of these sessions all weekand they weren't allowed to do them as sales pitches. If they did, we wouldn't have them back the following year..

Sure, the technology showcase is a tradeshow chalk full of vendors and booths from which they exhibit their products. That's what trade shows are for.

Attendeees can choose to walk the trade show, attend the educational seminars, or go to both. Your comments seem only focused on the trade show. Did you ever attend one of our seminars? You'd be surprised at how good they are and hey, I bet you'd even learn something useful for your business.

    Again, Jussayin.

No worries, like I said...Its just my opinion.

Its a great time for those that enjoy this sort of thing...not my cup of tea though.

    I love trade shows.

My wife gets to be there this year though and I don't because she is also attending the Women in HVACR conference on the 16th and 17th. Our Anniversary is on the 18th. Talk about dedication to the trade. LOL

So one more reason to go is that you might get to meet my beautiful wife

I like that!!! Congrats on the anniversary. What number is it? Mine is on the 23rd and it is number 30. How that woman puts up with me is beyond reason

Hope I get a chance to meet your better half.

This will be our 5th and the 2nd year in a row that we haven't been able to be in the same place for the actual date due to Comfortech. Y'all need to move that show to another week. LOL

We make the best of it though and try to have a great weekend together 'around' our anniversary.

It's going to be a very cool show that I wish Controls Central could attend. Perhaps we could make next year!
