I don't even know what alternative DRSA I will uses once the (4) new ak900s I collected over he past year are destroyed. Hopefully they will last the rest of my careers...or I might just have to change career!

I know, I fix all the ones that come back......never dragged a new one out of the bag. That's the reason why we wanted to get to the wireless.
Also the wire is so small as the larger wire 'conducted the heat' right into the teeny, tiny thermocouple bead and threw the readings WAY off so we had to go with smaller mass wire but of course one false step and you rip them right out,......Sorry about the at daggeroth....

Lol. Those are horrible. I sold them the week I bought them to another Tech that loves that yellow junk. Then I bought my self another set of AKs.
Doug, I heard that the imanifold uses some technology/intellectual property you developed...any truth to said rumors I've come across on the fourms?
What was the main reason you decided to close Digi-cools production?
I'm all for technology, but don't really like how it attempts to takes the place of a personal knowledge, experience, understanding of how equipment operates and the physics behind it.
Soon all condensers will have transducers and the proper placed pipe thermistors which will give you superheat and subcooling on the units control in real time from your office. Almost Like the Carrier Infinity Green Speed systems...the day will.be here sooner than later.
Damn. Sorry I type to much. I'm contacting Brenda so I can buying a few more sets of pipe clamp thermistors.
Im so mad I didn't get in on the 50% sales event earlier. Some how I missed the email! I would have had a stockpile of sensors and parts to keepw.going for.at least 2-3 years. Haha
Now if I only knew the actual specs of thermistors so I could buy them on Digikey! So many 10k thermistor models I don't know where to start! 🙄
Cheers,
Patrick

Nytefog,
My distributors WERE of course confidants in what we should/would do for future iterations then one trotted down the road to Stride Tools and started up 'his' idea.......I'll let you fill in the blanks. Keep in mind it was Buck Taylor that discovered that the Testo had an IR port that streamed out data and then HIS software was the smarts behind the EasyKool software (spelling?) which someone else started to make a lot of money off of.
Buck is the one trying to sort out the dog pile of software in the iManifold now.....he's got his hands full.
As far as closing, we buried almost $2M into the DRSAs and had many wholesale houses refuse to stock us and in fact said they were threatened with some of the other tool manufacturers that if they carried DCI, they would pull all their product. I was floored and it left us with selling one at a time and although some houses 'drop shipped' product regularly, they refused to stock. They made $100 ea. for making a 866 phone call to Brenda and never had to stock anything. We built, stocked up to $400,000 worth of product, warrantied it and made 1/2 of what the non-stocking wholesalers made. With the Cdn $ at a real low, the house was worth less than the chattel mortgage on it we had to take out each time we did a new 2000 piece build, so we stopped pushing a rope uphill and elected to support the product and stop manufacturing but we didn't have much of a choice and thought this was a fair way to do it.
As far as technology......I think if you seen my PH diagram and the information it gives coupled with the embedded knowledge you and the program gives, you'd be floored on how much more you'd know, understand and be able to fix/tune. I never interpreted the information on the screen......I'm a tech......I will never eliminate US!!!!

Yes those clamps are the Achilles heal. Im dealing with a wire break in my 2nd set. Didnt bother to call as i figured your hands are full.
I was able to just pull the wire through the hole at the end of the clamp into the handle more and it is working for now.
Would love to see a fellow Canadian get a break and make some good stuff! Best gauges out there imo!

Hey Shaka,
Call he 866 number in the morning around 8am (I've got a 9am site meeting) and have the DRSA apart.

My AK's are holding/flashing any value over 100psi on the low side. Is there anyway to reset or clear this issue? If not, do I send them back to Canada? Am I out of luck? Love my Digi Cools...
Thanks in advance,
Brendan

Mine do this around 188 psi. Sometimes they will show a different pressure such as 120 when in fact it’s just over 188ish. The low side just doesn’t read that high so it can have more accurate tolerances. I would try using some nitrogen to slowly raise the pressure so you can see for sure when it starts flashing. If it’s up around 180 I believe it’s normal.

Thanks, Ill give that a try, but i don't think the pressure is getting that high.

Anytime you go 'over' or 'under' rated transducer pressure (29.92"Hg on both sides; 200 psia (not the A in psia) low side; 550 psia high side it will 'blink' that display. If you've say zeroed the manifold with the hose parks on and 150 psi trapped in the manifold then when you release the pressure to atm. the low side transducer will 'try to read' ~300"Hg which of course is impossible......so it'll blink.

So if I am reading this correctly...
The solution to squirrely readings (most of the time anyway)... is to open both hoses... and zero the display???
That makes sense!

I’ve been using AKs exclusively since they were introduced and became the choice of so many on this forum.
I’ve also been away from this forum for a few years, so imagine my shock and dismay when I attempted to purchase a fresh set of AKs for the cooling season!
I have never grieved for the loss of a product before, but I’m really feeling this one.
What the heck am I supposed to do now??
Help....

There is a YJ unit out... does similar things... obviously not as good...
There are threads on it somewhere at H-talk... do not remember the model # though...

I picked up a nearly new looking set of AK900s on ebay for $200. The guy selling had zero ebay sales in his past so I think that's why people stayed away. But with PayPal protection, there really isn't any risk.
I have a set but my clamps went bad. I'll have to pick up a set of clamps from Doug before they sell out. And yeah, I've checked the solder joints at the plug. They are fine. Low side temp started acting funny a couple months ago. Cutting in and out. Now it almost always is out but even when it comes back both temps are reading way off. The temp clamps I got in the ebay auction work fine in my original set.
BTW, someone sold a new in the box set of AK900s for over $600 a month ago on ebay.
Would have been a better investment a year ago to snatch up 10 AK900s than my Amazon stock.

What are your thoughts on Testo gauges? There are a couple guys at work that picked them up and love them. Have they worked out the bugs that plagued them for years?
BTW, I also picked up a set of Fieldpiece JL3KH6 Job Link Charge and Air Kit.
Love them so far but I more often grab the DCs.
Setting up the Fieldpiece vs just hitting an "on" button. Grabbing your phone to turning the screen back on because it sat for a minute. Etc. It's just a bit easier. Plus if you have to adjust the charge you are set up with the DCs. I have a "T" fitting and hose that I hook up to the FP if I have to, but it's just one more step.
