So you pop for one of these cars with a ton of money. Than you hold your breath while they figure out how to make it run better and longer! And at what cost to you? I can count with the fingers of one hand how many of these cars I have seen!
Tesla's range may not be as good as some gas cars, but it's improving, and it's better than most muscle cars. And recharging at Tesla stations is free.

Tesla claims that plugging in at a Supercharger station for 20 minutes restores half the Model S’s charge. To sweeten the deal, the only cost is for the cup of coffee or lunch you enjoy while your car is juiced.
Battery swapping is Tesla’s second innovation. You park a Model S in a designated spot at a Supercharger station and the magic begins in the car’s shadow. The floor opens, computer-controlled tools unscrew the 39 fasteners that attach the 61-by-100-by-4-inch battery pack to the car, and a fixture lowers the 1300-pound box containing more than 7000 cells into a pit. A fully charged replacement battery is hoisted into place, and all power, cooling, and battery-diagnostic connections are restored. Automatic screwdrivers spin the fasteners to their factory torque spec, completing the swap in a minute and a half.
Amazing stuff.
So you come in with a car and the battery could be old or on the way out, and you come out with a better one or a worse one!
A pimple on any of the major Mfg's rear end!
Last week Tesla reached a milestone of 2,000 Superchargers worldwide, located at almost 400 Supercharger Stations in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Tesla Superchargers enable free long distance electric driving across the United States, and up and down the West and East Coasts.
There seem to be a good amount up and running with more planned. As far as the coolant leaks I don't know.
I was talking about the battery swap stations. There are lots of Superchargers, but no battery swap stations yet. Except for one test location that Musk admitted isn't working out.

Does it bother anyone that Musk named the car Tesla after the father of alternating current but powered it with a direct current battery?
He should have named the car the Edison.
Maybe if someone could get a drive up battery exchange where the depleted battery is pulled and a charged one is put in like other battery devices the pain of owning one might be less, but not much.

Maybe. I don't know what kind of motor they use.
At Bonneville I saw a land speed contender built by an Ohio university that used oxygen and hydrogen to somehow power a rectifier to power 4 motors at the wheels. The machine was in beta tests and didn't go flat out at the time.
I don't know how the oxygen/hydrogen actually worked but the officials made them work far away from the others.

I saw a Tesla on my way home today the license plate was "NOMO GAS".
It turned off the street before I could take a pic. I thought it was cool.
I miss you mom and dad.
It's a sweet looking car too
Tesla's future depends on the success of the Model X.
Consumer Reports Weighs in on Tesla Model S P85D
With the Model X crossover SUV slated to begin production before the end of the year, that makes is an incredibly important car for Tesla. It’s amazing that Elon Musk has made Tesla as much of a success as he has, but in order to continue, the Model X has to be a success as well. If it flops, whether because of quality problems or continued production delays, Tesla will be in serious trouble.
The company has already drained a lot of its cash reserves to increase battery production capabilities and get its factories ready to begin producing both the Model X and the Model S, but news that its cash reserves had dwindled hurt its stock performance despite the fact that the company had an even smaller operating loss than expected.
No one should count Tesla out just yet, though, because after announcing its intention to raise cash by selling more shares, it not only sold all 2.69 million shares it offered up, the investors also exercised their rights to buy additional shares. In total, Tesla sold off 3.1 million shares for a total of $738 million.
Having raised nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars, Tesla is now in a much more solid position to launch the Model X without a hitch. Hopefully it will also continue to turn out even faster versions of the Model S (and maybe even the Model X), but in order to fund those low-volume models, once again, we have to hope sales of the company’s luxury SUV take off.
With any luck, Tesla’s SUV will be successful enough to fund the development of its awesome performance the same way the Porsche Cayenne and Macan fund other great Porsches like the Cayman GT4.
