Got a 250 bonus from company i just started 1 month ago.. was surprised. Definitely a nice surprise 🙂
How do you know what the readings are supposed to be? Does the analyzer give you ranges or sound alarms when the numbers arent right?
I would add a LB or so of gas and see what happens, see if SH continues to go up... or if it goes down, see if low side goes up, see if SC goes up .. See if high side goes up..
Before anything I...
Possible to be book smart and pass it and agree, that a good tech can fail the nate test, but a bad tech will never pass it.
Pro's for refrigeration is many times you can work indoors in the winter and when its raining lol
Could you do commercial work out of a pickup?? I thought about it a few times already, I would prefer a pickup to give me a second car for the winter. Seems like it would be a pita to have to climb...
What about my pro membership?? Do I qualify?
I did.. all vans are already sold or have deals pending..
Got approved for a new 2020 ford transit connect today with an astronomical apr .... Part of me wants to jump at it, part of me thinks its foolish to do something with an absurd apr.
Not about credit, banks are giving squat unless you have income. I thought about lying but quickly remembered lying to get a loan is fraud.
I plan on making a profit the first few months. I know how draining it can be and a part of me doesn't want to go through that again.
I checked the FB marketplace for the first time yesterday... Surprised seems like they had more private sellers than craigslist out here on long island.
Nice to have repairs as tax write offs......
You missed alot of action and great threads!!! I held the record on thread replies and views at one time!! You ever met someone who would troubleshoot you under the table???...
My best bet ... I think anyways is hope to find a used transit connect for 7-9k on facebook marketplace... I found a few around 8K on the island here still, I could do 8 right now but would have...
117k makes me wary... Transmission soon??????
Couldnt even finance 8k on a 13k van putting 5 down.... no employment no loan. My only choice looks like get a few more k together and hope I find a decent beater for 8 or 9k and buy it outright and...
Not a question of being serious, a question of what is possible and what is not in my position. Would love to get something new, you can't get a loan without employment, not even if you pay 50% down....
Agreed.. Studying from the NATE books was all the difference in the world.
If you didnt have much choice, would you purchase a used van with 150k plus miles on it? that is 10 years or so or older? I'm very skeptical of buying something that old with high mileage!
Many things, specifically all drains should be trapped regardless of side (proven to be true on a few units out in the field) using wet bulb and dry bulb temps at the supply and return registers (not...
Having past NATE for ac service / heat pump service and install I would recommend anyone in the field to study and take the test. I'm not going to say the certification itself means alot, but more...
I know, county still isnt open, called last week and had to leave a message on their machine, never heard back yet. Wonder if i should ride down there?
The guy that will be out is the same one typing this. I wouldnt hire anyone unless I needed a hand that needs a 2nd guy.
Dont know how I feel about that. Sure, bigger customers that have corporate to go through, but smaller operations privately owned, I was thinking of getting one of those square readers to swipe...
Only if they pay on time!

I don't have any work yet, I didn't begin the business but I will shortly. Might sound crazy to start like that.
Or the same guys that dont fill out those imaginary epa logs that I heard about existing in some shape or form lol.
Of course you need workers comp and of course they could be a sub contractor, how else would you do it ?
Still in the process of buying a van and doing some more research before I make the jump.
Paul, do you have your workboots on? If I need a 2nd man for a heat Xchanger Im calling you! :grin2:
Question for the 1 man band operations in business. Most times you can do the work by yourself, how do you handle the jobs where you need a 2nd man? Let's say you just started out, dont have the work...
I could care less about make serial or anything else..!! not relevant.... are you 100% certain that condenser is clean? I dont care what it looks likes on the outside... can you see through it?
a few ice cold tall boys tell me how much sc is needed lol
subcooling is not a fixed number... ambient outdoor temps effect subcooling.
Is this a joke?? the question???
Hope all is well.
The bigger question is why does removing the charge, pulling a vac and recharging always seem to fix the problem when HP bounces around like that? Are you saying for sure its not NCG or are you...
bad cap generally... but make boss man proud, write up motor, cap, fan blade
Forgot to grab that pic, another call awaited so the unit was buttoned up and left roaring like a lion.
Wasnt tight just enough to pull the wire out
When i can't find a hand to pat myself on the back I use my own every time!
Meter Peter says if it saysif the coil says 0 its NFG .. you shoulda seen the smoke coming outta it
Yeah it was brand new.... That was changed before discovering 110v running through it... smoked it real good. After finding 110v feed 24v off a relay, decision was made to gut the unit and redo it.....
