BTW.... soak door gaskets in hot water and they go right in. Close the door on a warm gasket and leave it closed and it will mold to the frame.

Saw this happen on a commercial unit. Not saying this is your issue but a mouse ate the insulation from the stat wires and created a short in the 24v Red wire which burnt up the stat, smoke and fire...
