Lube the probe with water based lubricant they will fit !
They are tight and I always worry when pushing them in as Well I have never seen a temperature and pressure gauge that fits those in one...

This may be a silly question but why would you ever change a txv or do anything major to a system with out first cleaning a admittedly dirty condenser coil. Sounds as if the txv isnt set up...
