You would need a piercing valve to remove the refrigerant.
We engrave the type into the handle and cylinder at work. Makes it a little easier.
Invest in a charging adapter.
Nominal or plumbers copper is measured by the I.D., while ACR is measured by O.D. Both are available in K and L. ACR is purged with nitro and capped to prevent oxidation.
For grins and giggles, replace your hoses with copper tubing and flare nuts. Rubber is permeable, so at the lower end of the vacuum you can have less leaking thru the rubber.
