Yeah, kinks have been a problem. if I have room I agree the two 45's work well. Sometimes due to room and design choice its just easier to use the 90's though.

I use my hydraulic swage tool if the joint is too tight. I don't use couplings anymore but I've had to use 90's now since linesets haven't been working well with my ratchet bender.
Might need a bit of a coil cleaning before you shoot that freon in there...
It's an odd issue, but until recently when I would first open Measure Quick it would turn off the music playing on my air pods. I could then click the button to have it turn back on and it would work...
I’m still using the Hilmore. If you squeeze the ratcheting handle just a bit you can more easily release the lock trigger. But I seem to be out of luck on copper quality. I haven't been able to bend...
It’s something I didn’t really think about until I saw the A2L rating on the Fieldpiece box. I think I’ll just get the normal 7 cfm JB. I looked up the replacement parts and it seems like the SP and...
Im in the market for a new pump and am looking between JB platinum and the Fieldpiece VP87. The 87 is A2L certified but the JB needs to be a Spark-Proof version to be certified. The reason I wanted...
Apparently this is a new construction system and someone thought it would be a great idea to install upflow in a downflow...
Another problem I heard with it is rolled copper. Since it’s not perfectly round it won’t cut it right. I wanted to get one but the reviews at the time were not good for soft coiled up linesets.

Has anyone rebuilt their Fieldpiece VP85’s yet? Mine just started acting up and I know JB and YellowJacket have rebuilding kits so I was hoping Fieldpiece had the same.

Thought you might find this interesting. Immediately thought of your white roof and the difference that alone made. It’d be pretty cool to see what this kind of coating could do.

Nope. I haven’t tried that. Would it work even when it’s not showing up on the app?

I might have to try that.

Not really. It turns on and flashes green like usual it just doesn’t broadcast a signal. Tried measure quick and fieldpiece app multiple times.

Just had my first loss of a fieldpiece psych probe. It’s been a great kit and I think 4 years for a part that’s used multiple times everyday is pretty good. The only thing that sucks is it’s about 50...
I guess I'm weird then, because I love to see dirt foam out and then see it all flushing out the bottom when I hose it down. It's even better when the homeowner is watching because they don't think...
I use the Fieldpiece SRL8 for 410 and 400 series replacements, and an Inficon D-tek for R22.
I've cursed the souls of many an engineer. I always wished they would have to work on the things they design. It's not limited to engineers though. A lot of installers never have to work on the...
Yeah, now that you mention it, it was a dirty shingle-roofer. :) Actually it was some of those roofing videos on Youtube about roofing materials.
I've heard that metal roofs tend to leak pretty quickly from where they are screwed together/down due to expansion and contraction on the fastening point.
A lot of housing developments around here have single stage zone systems. Even with bypass dampers they run poorly and often are riding the high limit switch in heat mode and running barely above...
I've had the field piece probes for around 4 years. I use them all the time. I only use a manifold to recover. I use a core-removal tool attached to a charging hose to add refrigerant with them. I...
I might have to try those things. I've had the AirPod Pros for over 2 years and they work great but it would be nice not have to constantly switch between ears to keep them charged.
Well, this is in the “bad” part of town. I was working on a split system in the back. Climbed the ladder and couldn’t believe my eyes. Thankfully the customer didn’t own the building or care about...

Far as I can tell, the tarps are so water doesn’t get through the plywood covering the curb openings. At least it was before it all dry rotted.
I’ve found it! The legendary rooftop where RTU’s go to die.https://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20200707/475a511131b62cd453a55fa885a99cf5.jpg...
I like carriers better than Lennox or York. They’ve all got issues, and I used to joke around with a buddy of mine that the engineer who fudged up the Lennox serviceability must have been fired and...

Two positives i see about it: it looks like hard pipe rather than flex, and it’s not a Goodman 😁
It’s unfortunate, but I think you’re right. There used to be a lot of new topics in the pro sections but it’s really dropped off in the past 4-5 months. Kind of sad really.
Just a thought, but if your suction line is 57 degrees (45 coil temp plus 12 SH), it should be nearly impossible for it not to sweat at 81 ambient temp. Your probes must not be reading properly.

Wow. That’s nuts. I haven’t had that happen. I haven’t taken it up and from more than a handful of roofs, but I’ve slung it around quite a bit. Hopefully it was just a fluke. I would hate to drop...
Oh god. MQ is sooooo much better than the FP app on dropouts. I didn’t know you weren’t using it. Often the only way you know they’ve dropped reception is the number jumps quickly. Very rarely do the...
I use my iPhone. They will randomly drop for about two seconds but they pick right up where they left off.

As long as you didn’t put that pleated motor killer in there, it’s all good. Those things look like they’re full of dog hair right out of the package.
Least it’s got duct tape and a strap

First time customer called us for a maintenance. Found this aging beauty of an install. After the first three or four repair suggestions I gave up. After all, it’s “cooled great for years”....
+1 for unions. Try to put them on every maintenance we do. We usually get them from either Johnstone or Lowe’s. I would imagine you could order a box from either one online.

Sorry buddy. It’s always frustrating when a new tool or toy doesn’t work right. For what it’s worth, I’ve got the Fieldpiece wireless probes and I would and have recommended them to everyone I know....

Is your hose fully pushing in the schrader valve? There’s been a few times I’ve scratched my head as to how a system could be cooling with no pressure on the low side only to realize it wasn’t fully...
It’s got wingnuts. Takes a little longer to set up, but the reverse bender is easier to use.
