Whatever brand your local supplier can get you parts for easily.
I have!! A supplemental discharge check valve may do the trick for you. The internal one in the comp can totally fail open and the lpc setting won't do jack no matter how hard you try
CO2 efficiency depends on outdoor temps. Under 87 degrees works pretty decently. Above 87, efficiency goes goodbye LOL
Anhydrous ammonia is probably the most important refrigerant as far as perishable supply chains are concerned. CO2 as a refrigerant is becoming more popular because of its low global warming...
I only use braze on refrig lines. I like solder for copper drains though!
That's a good fix right there! I guess exact location of the drier on the liquid line is never a set thing, it depends on the application or circumstances
On the liquid line and easily serviceable is what matters to me, last thing I want to do after changing a compressor on a 100 degree day is climbing to the 130° attic or standing on a 12 foot ladder...
What's the water inlet temperature to your unit? If it's over 90° then you will probably have issues like this
I'd say be prepared for leaks possibly ;)
Bacharach H10 pro
This may sound silly but if you use shut off valves at the BC box did you make sure they were all open? Pretty common to find one or two shut off during startup.
Sporlan is my favorite brand for general refrigeration and ac usage! Ask your supply house to help you size it and specify that it's for r-410a. I wouldn't get one with a manual stem if I could avoid...
Your local trane sales rep has to 3 way you in to a phone call with them, it's a hassle but it was helpful when I was looking at a chiller. Good luck!
Superior
I've worked on a few CO2 transcritical racks, they work very well as long as you are below the critical point on the high side (when you are above critical point you have to increase your horsepower...
I gave up on electronic gauges because my testos were problematic. I went back to analog without any issues. Analog works great as long as you don't drop it
Classic symptom of crossed wiring to BS box
You likely won't be able to add it all with system offline. Daikin has a mode where you can add additional refrigerant without having to turn on the thermostat.
I would add as much as possible to...
I'm late but...
Fluke 87V
You'll need a separate clamp meter or a current clamp accessory
Thanks for the good info guys!
Flare torque wrench, almost never do installation
I put it on the liquid line somewhere easily accessible for the next guy...
I would be suspect of the heater safety klixon at this point
EDIT:
check and make sure there are no gaps in the panels of the box, make sure the door closes properly and that the gasket is intact...
Have any of you ever figured out what could be used as an economical replacement for these garbage plastic-wheel defrost timers (you know, the one with the drive motor on the left and then you can...
Check valve plate, pistons, and reeds for any damage.
We have a customer with these as well, they drive me nuts.
Sliding pin on small wheel is your failsafe setting in minutes. Black plastic tabs on big wheel is when defrost initiates.
Which manufacturer is requiring press fittings to be used on piping?
I've worked on exactly one silver king...not a fan
The ec5411d is the best motor to have on truck for small units, evap and condenser duty!
I worked on a master bilt rebranded prep table once....not a fan. The stuff they make in USA isn't too bad imho.
WOW
I wonder how much the motor amperage went up after that was resolved...
Good find too!
I take pressure at liquid line and measure there too.
I wonder if they checked the filter..
The units I find with a bad heat exchanger are immediately disabled, I don't care how cold it is outside the people inside can relocate if it's that bad indoors.
What is your least favorite?
What is the best one on the market today?
Any horror stories with new equipment not working correctly?
Tell it all here!
If it's a Dixell or Carel or LAE or whatever it wouldn't be too bad to figure out...hopefully that's what it is (United now stocks universal Dixell controls in 120 and 240 volt and I think they can...
How many times have we heard "I just need to make it through one more Winter/Summer/Season/holiday"
Replace that thing..nothing but trouble.
I trust Sporlan
I'm curious what kind of machine you are working on here, mixsit
Is there a receiver?
I never look for a clear sight glass unless there is a refrigerant receiver upstream of the sight glass
This might sound dumb but make sure your air curtain is intact
Naaaaaah that's plenty of airflow!
X2
R-717 (Ammonia)
But it isn't compatible with copper...
Somebody has never seen a union fitting before... apparently
Hello!
I am a refrigeration service guy, I've recently installed one of your Copeland 4D rebuilds, I like the metal tag on it that says "MADE IN USA" (something along those words), it runs smooth...
I will sacrifice a 3 in 1 if need be
If I see that setup being used I would recommend to the customer that REAL refrigeration equipment designed for the task be installed. I refuse to mess with these mismatched systems
Who makes what?
There are dozens upon dozens of different brands but there are only 7 or so major manufacturers of ductless hvac equipment I can think of (Gree, Haier, Midea, Daikin, Fujitsu,...
