You are right about the franchise vs corporate aspect.
As one of my mentors used to say... If one person calls a guy an a-hole, he'll give him the benefit of the doubt. If everyone does, he...
I'll say this... When the office was a franchise, it was awesome and definitely would have retired from it. Corporate, ehhh.
Local management can and will make or break an office.
As for their...
Factory training is always a good thing. I say stick with it till you get as much as you can before jumping. Private companies love an experienced guy from a factory especially if they deal with...
Could have a restriction in the condenser too.

The right coast or the right coast?!

Was thinking the same. A butterfly valve on top of a spool piece. Never seen a check look like that. Personally, I'd put in a triple duty valve and have a fitter shorten the spool.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone as well! Hope you all will be stuffed like I will be! Lol

Yeah, I don't believe screw machines look at current for startup. Definitely seen a few start with a sticky slide valve at up to 70% load.

Shading pole rings too...

I just looked, I don't have any RTWD literature anymore... If I'm remembering correctly, it's not a large amount of restriction that'll cause a trip. Someone here may have it and give a little more...
Good! Never add oil to those unless it's on the ground. So the oil level never falls but you get a low oil flow alarm. Not sure if I have my manuals anymore, left Trane a couple months ago... I know...
Have you ever added oil yet?

Just got back to this... I think the best way is just to use a hx. Keep everything safe on the di side and city water or glycol on the chiller side. No worries doing it that way.

Usually one is for proving the combination blower and the other is for a blocked flue.

Yeah, in my early 40's and have it too. Around -20dB across the board except around 4k Hz, then it drops to -40. Luckily mine is high enough to not affect conversation as bad. Got mine from working...
Even with a clean and dry system, 15 minutes for a system that size kinda makes me think a little. Was the liquid line solenoid open? If it has EXVs, was that open? Where was the vacuum gauge in...
Me neither! I can make it passable but it takes me forever...

Insulation can never look too good though! Lol

Schrader removal tool?! Never used the stuff but that's how I would put it in..

Probably had some gas trapped in the valve, between the ball and the seals. Good practice is to close the valve half way for a minute or so to get that out before closing the valve all the way.

The compressor has a babbitt bearing on the front of the motor. The rear of the motor has 2 opposing ball bearings for the thrust. Believe they all are 3450 RPM motors. You can put your sensors on...
Leave enough room around the units to work on them. Leave enough room and stay clear of overhead pipes/conduits for disassembly/rigging. Make sure doors are big enough for larger parts/equipment can...
Everything is pointing to a flow problem. Header goes into the bottom of the coil and that's the only cold row when the load is off of it, low air ∆T, high water ∆T....

Checked physically or on controls? If the valve is physically open, I'd check the strainer.
Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk
Yep, check strainers. Also, check operation of CHW valves.

I've never liked retrofitting chillers. Only have ever ran into oil loss issues. If it's not as miscible as 22 is with the oil, I can almost guarantee oil issues, especially at low loads.

Now why would you want to do that? I suppose you're going to look at your furnace filter too, right? Lol

Are you talking about superheat? Is this a TXV system or an orifice?
Systems are designed to make sure the refrigerant coming back to the compressor through the suction line is warmer than the...
Ohhhh, my bad. Sounds like Chops has worked with a product that's worth looking into!

I had an old Worthington centrifugal from the mid 70's and it was R-12. It's beyond it lifespan. I would replace it. Use the refer towards a new one. If you do decide to try to resurrect it, McQuay...

Put it all the way on. There will be no gap after you set the preload. If there is a tiny gap after it cools, it will be seated after setting the preload. They want you to let it cool so the front...

Don't heat the chiller!!! You'll make a whole bunch more vapor to recover! If you're having a hard time with push/pull, I think your hoses are too small or you're trying to go too fast for the size...
Cracked U bend in a coil? Are the condensate drains plumbed right over a floor drain?

Pumps can also cavitate if the suction pressure is too low. The lowest pressure is right at the nose of the impeller. This sudden drop can cause excess air to escape from the water causing its own...
Ok, the load is too high. I take it there isn't any ice yet. The condenser is being overloaded. I know some process/comfort cooling chillers hold out compressors if the evap is too warm. I think...
Is this an outdoor rink with glycol? If ambient is too high, the ice will melt as fast as you make it.

Yes, the burner plates are a separate item. Have replaced a few of them myself. Easy task!

For normal logging and light troubleshooting, I go off what the front panel says. I haven't seen an issues with my Fluke 87V.
