Motor control module, relay stuck or wired improperly.
Do you have a 24v call at the motor or relay when T-stat is off?
Make sure you do not have a stuck heat sequencer giving the fan a call.

I could use the lowest grade / cheapest equipment and I would go in the hole bidding...
No way... $ complete install? I also agree even the K quote seems fishy.
I have 1 of 3 suppliers in my area that still carries the Focus Pro. The price has almost double since the T6 came out, but we can still get them. The information I am getting is the price of the...
I too have called Honeywell support and was not real impressed with their help or knowledge. They could not help me resolve my issue, so I called a Honeywell sales rep I know and he said to go back...

Sounds like a restriction.
Look at the TXV or piston which ever you have.
Make sure service valve are open.
Just slow down., think it out, and go through the refrigerant cycle checking every...
Check magnetism on the reversing valve coil, Its rare but I have seen a few loose magnetization.
Break 24V to the coil, listen to see if you hear the valve shifting.
Sure can, add a relay with the PSC and you will be back in business.
I have done it a few times when in a pinch or when customer can not afford $$$ OEM motor.
Gonna suck if you wait 3 weeks for the board only to discover you have a bad motor.
Bite the bullet and call a professional to get you ac back cooling.
VT99 Pretty sure you are correct, however I have seen a few Carrier condensers that utilize them as well. I have heard them called king valves and compressor service valves. But those few carrier...
Some Carrier condensers have king valves. You will have to crack the valve with a service tool to get pressure readings.
Read the below article if you need a better understanding of the king...
Local supply house told me price just increased because the manufacture had a shortage. Kinda ironic the shortage comes as we are gearing up for the summer rush.

Sorry about the delay, have not had much time to log in lately.
Thanks for your input and sharing your knowledge. The stray voltage may be normal, but I checked another system that is...
Yes I have tested another beacon system sitting next to the system in question no stray voltage.
I originally thought the problem would be in the condenser, went through every component (pressure...
I am hung up on the voltage to the cabinet because it affected the contactor, not allowing it to close and operate, which I believe is the root of the problem.
When it is chattering voltage across...
I do need to pick up an analog meter, good suggestion. I have used 2 or 3 different digital meters during the course of this issue and all read the same.
I would agree with you about the ghost...
I have 24V at the control board. From Common terminal on control board to the cabinet metal I pick up 13V.
Tested with LV wires (Ser/ Comp/ C) to condenser disconnected so I would say the...
Yes, ground is correct
I am having a voltage issue with a Beacon 2 system.
I am picking up stray voltage which in turn will not let the 24V contator coil close.
From 24V Common to the metal cabinet I am getting...
I don't think Ameristar has every produced any R-22 equipment.
They do not list any r-22 parts or equipment reference on the dealer web site.
I do believe a standard piston will fit. The...

You have to order TXV Separate.
it does come with a piston installed.
As rider77 said, not enough information to provide a diagnosis and we can't provide DIY.
However, if it works when you jump out the t-stat wires, then I would move the possibility of a bad wire...
No offense, but I would suggest calling a professional. It may be cheaper in the long run to pay someone with experience, before you blow a transformer or control board by shorting out the wrong...
Yes the first 2 compressors were Trane aftermarket compressors. Both Failed.
The third compressor was OEM and it works fine.
First replacement compressor fired off and ran normally, but failed...
I agree with you, I am not one to accept that something is bad out the box, even though it does happen.
It may have sucked loose oil from the system, but I cannot understand where the oil was...
This was my first and last encounter with them. They don't have them for all units. I ordered a 10 ton & 5 ton on the same day. Parts guy said he didn't have 5 ton in SF model. But pushed the 10...
Changed the compressor today and it is operating normal.
So I really don't have a definite resolution.
Apparently the first 2 compressors where defective, is all I can figure.
I have learned...
Sorry for the delay in getting back..
Going back to the unit this afternoon.
Hopefully I will have a resolution for everyone.
Unit name plate does not list required charge the following was copied from service facts:

Thanks everyone for the input.
Pulled 37 lbs out of unit initially. Was able to get 33 lbs back in before having to start up. Was going to watch pressures and add rest of charge, but didn't...

Lol. Dry humor.
Determining if the board is bad is pretty simple and You sound confident so you will probably figure it out.
You stated the reason for you to bypassing the board was "if" it was bad.
Have you determined if the board is in fact bad?
Second question: If someone tells you "what they thought" (as you...
Sounds like you may have more than one issue going on.
The suction pressure is defiantly an issue. I would check the reversing valve as stated in a previous post. Make sure it is in fact...
He Gone!!! But I think he knew a little more about the refrigeration cycle and such to be just a store owner. Or he been googling a lot one.
Reading through this thread was fun until this point,...

I watched a video on the hydronic Hilmar swager which shows how to service the tool and change the fluid. Those of you using the Hilmar, how often do you have to service it?
I been looking to buy a swaging tool but have never used the mechanical swagers.
I was looking at the Hilmar CS 1839015 or the Yellow Jacket 60407.
Any of you guys used either or recommend one over...
