Just wanted to reread it to make sure nothing sounded stupid.;)
I was planning on entering all along. I just wanted to add a little excitement to your life. :D
Thanks for all the congrats. It's too bad everyone couldn't win, but $250 ain't chicken feed. I'll put this flat rate to good use. Now I won't be able to say I never win anything. :D

I used to think that way, but there's no law that says your flat rate charges have to be tremendously higher than your present charges. Some companies around me charge $800 to $1000 for a repair that...
Twilli will win. Twilli and HeyBob buddies.
Too bad, but not as bad as when your girlfriend tells you she's late. :D
In 1995, there was a gas explosion in a town near me. 27 on-call technicians had been called at home to respond to a gas odor, but some of them begged off the assignment by saying they had been...
You can tie it into any existing vent with a Y or T.
A good tech thinks about what they're doing, and rarely guesses. They don't rush things, and when they make a mistake, they make sure they never do it again. The only person who doesn't make...
In the US, if you crack too many beers, they don't like you on the road. Do they have anything like that in Canada?
It sounds like the condensate isn't all going out your primary drain, and is dripping into the emergency drain. What did your installing contractor say when he came out to look at it?
In the past, I've resisted flat rate pricing for probably no good reason. I guess I was worried that customers wouldn't accept it or think it was unfair. Now I'm convinced it's the right way to go....
Also, insurance companies have ways of finding people. They now only send certified letters, but they'll send someone out to this guy's last know address. If he moved, they'll talk to neighbors, etc....
Yes, I've seen home owner's insurance cover things like this, but they always go after the offending person. It was not gross negligence on the home owners part.
Is this a Goodman unit? It looks like one. Was this guy the low bidder?
Now you have an ideal environment for mold to start growing. You should file a claim with your homeowners insurance. Let...
It mostly depends on how tight the rest of the house is, and how much wind there is outside. If you take an empty milk jug full of hot air and remove the cap, very little heat will be lost. If you...
Go with the Rheem 14 seer. Most of them are 10 year compressor warranty, but some are 8 years. Ask him about 16 seer and see if you can swing the extra install money. You won't be sorry when you see...
Most reputable HVAC contractors will not tell a home owner to buy something online, and a high percentage will not even install something the ho bought. If this guy guaranteed it would work when he's...
You might be right about the internal phone light, but those transformers have been around a lot longer than the phone lights. nightranger is correct. The old dial type phones used the yellow and...
If you have to get just one leak detector, get the H-10. They've been around for years and it seems like they get very little complaints compared to other detectors. I believe GE made the first one,...
A year ago, this place wanted $135.

Makita always seemed to be balanced better than other brands. They put a lot less strain on your wrist and arm during extended use.
I'm allergic to fiberglass form working in a fiberglass shop. If you sand the ladder, make sure you immediately take the cloths off and put them in the washer. Then immediately take a shower using...
A lot of wholesalers used to do it for free if you buy their equipment. Not sure how many still do that. You'll probably need an account with them, and show them your EPA certification.
Are you talking about the "Rope Hoist Block and Tackle"?

How is that Denton...
Saw this one online, and was just wondering if anyone ever used one, and what they thought. Are there any other brands? I already have a power hand truck and several come-a-longs. Thought this might...
I use the Telesteps 126 type II rated. It extends to 12-1/2' and hardly sags at all with a lot of weight on it.
I'm almost that size, and never had any problem.
OSHA/ANSI Ladder specs:
Type...
I don't use one very much, but when you need one, they can be worth their weight in gold. I use a Canon, which is one of the best brands. On mine at least, the image can become grainer when the zoom...
Here's some interesting info from Beckett:

I've talked to guys that roll them on all the time and claim they don't have any problems. I guess it's ok if a belt should be adjusted with no tension, and if the adjustment wasn't changed since the...
I only have one customer who filters used restaurant cooking oil and mixes it in with his #2. He has no idea what % he has. I don't think the flame is as hot as #2, because the boiler seems to get...
Not really sure if there is a tool, or even if one is necessary. I just cut the old one off, loosen the adjustment, and install the new belt. I never installed a new belt without adjusting it.
I use this on every job, without fail, and if you don't consider it technically a "tool", then just go a few more years without using one.

Me too, I'm interested in knowing about it.
Send HeyBob empty cans. He can scrap them.

Correct, but do you know why?
I really hope you're kidding about that.
Attic air handlers are great, they allow for one large return air filter grill that lets the filter be easily changed.
These are interesting posts. I don't do refg., just res / light commercial HVAC. Truck is loaded with parts mostly, so don't have a lot of room. 2 large nitrogens, gauges, scale, leak detectors,...
It was nice of you to tell the BBB, but a lot of average people don't realize that the BBB is actually a profit making company. They're going to drop by the contractor and use that as a selling tool...
I agree with smokin. The whole installation would go a lot easier, and there would be a lot less tubing bends.
I'm not buying the utility closet door excuse. The door is already open in the one...
That wasn't a price, that was a price difference. Big difference. I'm outta here.
I agree with beenthere, but in answer to your original question. The TH8321U1006 is exactly the same as the TH8320U1008, but also has a humidistat. My cost difference is less than the cost of a...
Have these units been keeping up with the building's demands for the last 7 years? If so, then they are definitely not undersized. If they've been keeping the desired temperature close, then it could...
You seem to be worried about the oil company's profits. It makes good business sense to sell him the burner at cost. At three service calls this year, they've probably already lost money on him. If...
Oil prices have fluctuated this whole winter in the Lehigh Valley. They were up over $3.25, then down to $3.00, and now back up. PPL will be deregulated in 1 to 2 years, and we'll be paying twice as...
