Just for fun. Tube delays from some roof top units we used to service.

Well, "gots to know" kicked me down the damned google rat hole- again. Didn't find squat on 'the channel, or that product.. rather a few others.. But Ilearned a few things, always very nice so, back...
Please post a path or how to get there. I'd really like to see -read? know more about this?
And yeah, in light of the underlined.. ok I need stay at least polite here..
Thanks
Thanks- nice to see the replies.
I'm pretty sure this wasn't 'blow it due to contamination, more like a standard dump it for fresh new as being 'better.
Besides, even as this was before venting was...
I was pondering something I heard many :>) years ago. Was wondering if any of our 'greyer members might have heard of it. I used to take some service calls where I happened to be told..
At one of...
Given the possible level of complete understanding of the system based on your questions, the possible ramifications of [liquid] "filter is clogged" I'd ask if it is certain it actually is short of...
The differences in paying for PM, and actually getting any PM.
= 'Giving incredibly affordable PM with the sole purpose of a door to charge work.
Interesting. A few notes/questions;
'Parts' plural? How many out of how many units-?
And failing at three-four years -The failure rate might be something I would have kept in mind to use -or...
I think my best was two or three one year.
A 45 degree bent over 30 cal FMJ found in the parking lot was good a WTF moment..
Hmm. No joy in a search.. and curious here?
Is this asking about the tube delay? In this case it was the hard contacts (at the top) switching 120 volt control to some semi large contactors.
No longer have the tube and most of my pictures are...
:>)
Salvaged from a circa late 70's early 80'ish? fifty ton AC unit -from about the time they were coming out with the solid state stuff.
Heater coils here wrapped around a bimetal plate (like...
It was just a 2x4" toggle switch type.
Great thread. Retired, I haven't visited the subject in ages and I learned (and relearned') a lot :>)
No one's mentioned it; In and around in a unit's...
I got bit good on 240 single phase unit where some dweeb installed it with a single pole disconnect!.
I didn't see it mentioned but to me 'can't remove it' almost has to suggest they're dual layer and not being opened up so you can get the lint out.
If that's the case, open them up for a real...
I tried about all of them and settled on this one -the difference as opposed to ones like post 12? It became real clear the first time I had an under-raised floor liquid schrader stick open. The...
Thank you for all your responses. I'd think Theoldscroll's post says a lot. Yes it can be done but like all systems (HVAC or otherwise..) the 'higher you push any technology the more the gotchas'...
It never came up for me having worked in warm climates, I ran across this with the reason being stated problems due to icing of condensate.
I wouldn't have suspected high-efficiency gas being...
Trane has one that bangs the fan on and off on narrow enough band in mild weather you'd think it'd tear it up in no time.
Based on liq line temp, and IIRC the motor has a heat sink band around it to...
That's a heck of a way to try to go. Even in a 'vapor sealed' data center -with min. allowed OSA, it's tough (..read very expensive and still always 'chasing the goal.
In addition to no mention of superheat, is where the frost is located. Likely it begins at the feed side of the coil... unless you have no fan flow...
Something doesn't seem right about that.
The extra volume ought to be compensated for with the appropriate additional refrigerant. And the same sub cooled conditions -yes?
Wow.
This guy takes it apart, goes into it further etc. I had no idea. The element is in direct contact with the water. That 'indicator light' are the contacts arcing silly!...
No..? which, or what exactally?
Which.. if I'm not mistaken.. Makes this...
A bit of a popular myth doesn't it!
It is about flow isn't it. I don't know how many time the solution was getting permission to rid the zone of those damn perf grills.
Especially in heat mode.. You want to see performance go up...
Subscribing ...don't want to miss where this goes.
Yes.
:>)
I was going to add that while the part of the liquid from the condenser not going to use directly in the evap might be viewed as 'wasted, the flow also raises the suction pressure and...
Yes I intend to have it certified. I was just a little shy about having removed the deposits -wondering if maybe that was boiler treatment that got back in there. But I think I'll give the repair kit...
I just did temporary fix to a Febco 825y.

Both check 'piston shafts' were stuck solid in their brass tubes. I got them both freed up removing reddish...
No water piped to the roof is a huge drag no doubt about that. And time waster.. and they never think about how they pay for it.. every time!
Just to add though, the static pressure [flow] would be...
Wow. That bearing life vs temp chart. I believed' already, but never saw this. There you have it. Explains a lot.
The super heat is low. And it's interesting if even with the TXV screwed fully to its minimum feeding can't increase it. And if anything I would think not having clear liquid would contribute to...
It's my understanding as well- ball bearings are preferred for motors run at low speed - due to the sleave's lubrication issues.
But that's not the full issue here. These are not 'inverter / VFD...
You do your own bearings. Wow! That's some good service! :>) The motors are pretty pricey. I've taken some to the motor shop, but then they advised me 'half the time they'd apt to need end bells, .....
I liked that idea- very much. And given the fail rates, a customer allowed me to mod some. I used lig line temp rather than pressure. ($50' Johnson electronic stat, accurate repeatable, dead band,...
And running them a low voltages, also runs them very hot, 'cooking the lube in the bearings at low speeds -as it was explained to me by our very good local motor rebuild shop.
20 (30? yikes!) years...
I remember hearing' swapping rotation on a worn in compressor doing some additional ware to the bearings ..?
Are you replacing an existing P66 -and on a motor designed for it -i.e. Liebert?
Second, what do you mean 'super heat and sub cooling issues? -fan short cycling / over shooting?
-I haven't had...

I have one building where the supplies are conditioned air (from the hallway IIRC) drawn in only by the exhaust. Ironically (due to the 'returns/ceiling being 'hotter in the winter effect'- the rest...
Favorite H10 story ..sorry if I've posted this before but, well..
Tech's leak checking, 30 ton in a room maybe 70x30' with a hand held, can't find anything.
Called me in hmm, 'let's try something....
I apologize for the my previous response, I totally misread it.
This system's charge is likely 100 lbs or more, thus my wanting to zero in on how to get the mix right.
Yep sounds about right that's probably what it says..
Fantastic, and simple as that. Not sure why I thought it might be more complicated (this place needs a face palm thingy ;>)
Thanks a bunch!
In my search for above I just ran into a 'gotcha I also hadn't thought of- Nitro pushes freon away from (some) sections, and/or gravitates to the higher points in the system. Hmm.
Wow thanks. So I'm shooting for it as % in vapor obviously, and now ... I hadn't even contemplated yet [face palm.. grins]- What's a good way arrive at the ratio? 'X pressure of r22 > to the 150psi...
I've not had luck looking for the answer to this.
Plenty of something vague like 'only need a little from some techs/posts etc. For bigger systems, I'd like to find some guidelines.
Detector will...
