Geeze. I'm glad that at 72 I'm about done. I just keep doing it cause I like it and would get bored.

Geeze. I'm glad that at 72 I'm about done. I just keep doing it cause I like it and would get bored.
Thanks. If that is all this ap is good for I'll probably trash it.
So my distributor sent an email about this new Ruud app for download. Supposed to cover troubleshooting, etc. I downloaded it and played around a bit. They have the specs, instructions etc for the...
I was amazed actually.
Had to install 24' of copper baseboard today and for a couple days I was mulling over the aggravation of trying to get that nice cut on the existing baseboard and 1/4 round trim. I looked at my...
I have hundreds I hope to give away before the day comes when my kid starts throwing everything out.

Bought and installed one from Johnstone last spring. It's mated to a Ruud 13 seer.

I have given up on the idea. Even if I broke the G wire using the WR IF80 as you suggested I could still have a problem I think. The problem could be the possibility of the fan having two speeds...

Update, I used a test light and jumped R&G at board and Y did get power even with the White Rogers digital stat. Looks like I will have to break the G as hvacker suggested.
Gonna put 24 test light on low volt to condenser and jump R&G tomorrow and find out once and for all about mine. I have A White Rogers 1F90 or something like that . Basic 5/2 programmable.
I shouldn't be getting off topic here but I have had a good number of ADP's start leaking freon. Wondering if Aspen is better.
I may try your scheme. I don't need freaking wifi thermostat headaches even if I could find one that does what I want.
On the Ruud equipment A/C registration I have to select condenser only to extend the parts warranty if I use and ADP coil. Tried an Aspen once and to convert to TXV I had to sweat in my own fitting...
I did years ago. I don't know if the newer stats will do that when you jump R&G at the board because I always pull one of the condenser low volt wires off now when I do that.
R600A, I want the fan to run constant all day and switch back to auto at night. Picture yourself setting fan from auto to on in the AM and switching back to auto before you go to sleep. Also picture...
Because when the fan switch was on auto a call for cooling also powered G which switched the relay for the fan. Now the boards do it through a timer when Y is powered. It may only be some units but...
Seems to solve the problem I would have had with my timer idea. I'll jump R&G at the board when I get a chance and if the a/c stays off that should work. I can probably find a timer with a set of...
All I know is very often when I used to jump R&G at the circuit board the condenser would come on too. I can give it a try easy enough.
Sure, draw it out please. You won't have that issue where when you jump R&G at the furnace terminal board the a/c unit turns on?
I'll have a look. I have installed them for clients but once done I leave it to them to play around.
Yes as I posted I had thought of that. But if I break the G wire at night in summer I'll have problems if the thermostat calls for cooling. In heating mode the fan will turn on and off via the board...
What do you mean programmable for heating mode only? The fan?
Doesn't Am Standard make a cased coil that can be used as a horizontal? I know Ruud coils for horizontal are the same cabinet size as the furnace. I have not had to use one of those old, monster...
This freaking electric bill is killing me. I run my fan 24/7 and have a couple options going forward. Try and remember to switch to auto every night and back to on in the AM, which I will promptly...
Installed about 6 of those Reme's including my own house. Not ONE was functioning two years later. Glad I saw this thread about jumping with a nest before I killed one.
Still have set of Robinaire from 40 plus years ago I use for R22 units.
Wow! In 45 years I must have a few thousand violations when you factor in close nipples. Thinking about it I can see that the pipe wall thickness is pretty thin.
Depending on where a fitting is located and if it would provide good access later I make a note in marker that the upstream portion isn't glued. Also keep a couple feet of clear vinyl tube on the...
Do I have this right? You can't use a street el on gas? Are you talking about black pipe els? On the copper I always thought solder had more to do with a house fire. I have never understood running...
That's a nice touch running the romex through some scrap of greenfield they must have saved from the scrap pile. No doubt just inside the door to the burners it exits at romex again where it snakes...
I have a few clients running condensers far worse than that from dog pee. Thankfully the tubing was copper like yours.
Don't think that works any more with the scrolls or it's not recommended.
I'm trying to get a handle on shipping costs. That's what can start eating up anything you save. He said around 20 bucks for an inducer. Unless they offer free shipping for a certain minimum purchase...
This is regarding the HVAC items. I get a flyer in the mail all the time from these people and some of the prices are outstanding. Just wondering if anyone has ordered from these folks. I don't buy...
Remember those huge old drum exchanger Muellers with plenums about 32" square! On some we would put a quadrant damper in (closed in summer). Ha, now you would have to jack up the first floor to get a...
As I said, they had at least a foot in height they could have set this. I just know my suspicions were confirmed once I yanked it all
Yep. Good thing this unit only had three cells. The thing is when they installed the a/c and furnace they could have raised this coil up a foot or more easy.
I've been toying with the idea of getting a 3 or 5 foot freezer for this perpetual overflow I always seem to have. I already years ago learned that the bigger the freezer you have the more stuff you...
Not sure. I wired it to high speed heat/cool years ago
Just put this in my limited memory bank. Nice idea.
Have used one for decades. It's about 14x17 two compartments hinged.
Told them years ago when they complained about air flow problems I was sure it was from the way the coil was installed. You could eyeball from the drain line fitting just how much opening was blocked...
They still make 13 SEER but I believe certain areas of the country are mandated to higher minimum SEER. Here in Chicago area 13 SEER are readily available.
Hard to tell what you have. Some seem to deflect air in different directions which may or may not be good. Keep in mind that you can get commercial grade registers with vanes that are individually...
Still have and use my R22 Robinair set from the mid 70's. To the OP if you think about a used set see if you can find out first if a rebuild kit is available. It will have some O rings, etc
Right. Always tell the lady HO it's a RAT, never a mouse. Reminds me of a call I'm on in basement looking around with a penlight trying to find a light switch or pull chain. I keep hearing this weird...
Have had a number like that. Stat wire pinched between trunk line and I beam or floor joist but those would short in winter when trunk heated and expanded. I have also had contractors in condenser...
Makes me sick! I still pull out coils over 20-25 yrs old that are perfect. I'm replacing coils that are not even two, three years old. ADP for the most part.
You have a link? I tried a search but no luck.
