I'd always loved those classic, old double-wide gas Franklin Chef or Vulcan-Hart ranges only found in...old churches.

Some of those churches have some well preserved equipment which belong in museums.

Yep. They are part Star Manufacturing since 2006. Within 80 miles of me in Smithville TN. Wells and Toastmaster are made there too. The Middleby Corp. acquired ALL of them in 2007.

Is Lang even in business? I remember servicing a kitchen on the 20th or so floor in the Security Pacific Bank building. Their front line was a Lang. Also serviced a few Langs on boats.

I service a couple of units that are 23 years old and can attest that they have the original equipment still in place, including 6' lang grill, groen kettles, and ice machine hosh still chugging along.
really surprised on the ice machine still going, small cosmetic issues have been replaced obviously but other wise sound unit.

I serviced an electric hot top GE range for many years at a day care here in the Nashville area. They knew me, but would still judiciously remind me that "Elvis Presley bought that for us" to place emphasis on how important that range was to them.

The problem was always a bad hot top element. We were able to get replacements for many years. Then, around 2010, I had to share the foreboding news that the part was no longer available.

On a side note, I'd always wondered (but never asked) how they came up with their name: The King's Daughters Child Development Center

How about the two door Traulsen warmer with the strip heaters. I have a customer with around 75 of them still in use and pushing 30 years old.

Yep still have some customers with those.
If you're doing any refrigeration Traulsen made some of the best.

How about the old savory toaster or the Hatco upright toaster. Built like tanks.

The old big pizza ovens. I have to agree.

Bakers Pride has to be up there too.

Can you remember the good stuff?

After a life time of repairing cooking equipment I can still count on ten fingers the truly "Best in Class" pieces. You know the ones that lasted 20-30 years or more if in a school setting. I doubt there will be any equipment made in the last 10 years that will be able to claim the same. Tell me what equipment do you admire that has last a minimum of 20 years in a commercial kitchen?
