Have You contacted the Manufacturer of the Fireplace?

Well, .... I reckon that's what happens when one replies to the first post, & then reads the other replies.

If this unit is truly 40 years old, ..... Then it needs to be thoroughly checked from one end to the other/ Inside out.

I've always been able to get some form of Data, on a unit, whereas I could identify it, & chase down parts/ tech support etc.

"If" Tags/ Data plates have been removed, that is a Red Flag right there about some form of problem, be it the Equipment &/or the forgetful (Bungling) "Servicer" that didn't have a pencil & notepad handy.

Worse yet, .... If the Data plate/ decals are wore off due to Moisture/ High heat/ Abuse, ..... Then sell the H.O. a New Unit, with Warranty, that should be far more efficient than a "40 year old" unit.

Thanks. Sorry Just to clarify; old valve was able to adjust the flame height so I’m not trying to change anything. Customer just wants the same type of valve. Fireplace is probably over 40 years old without any numbers on it or the valve.
