Make that sign-on bonus $5 Grand and you might get some interest. One thing the OP needs to understand, after a few weeks of working together and a few after work brewskys, most all of your techs actually know what everyone is makeing or a pretty good idea. So just let your wage scale be known.
curious about the work there now. I was visiting the city last week and loved it. The cost of living seems to have leaped quite a bit. Still i could eat oysters all day and night and be happy : )

May I offer some perspectives? Compensation for good techs is like the movie, "Field of Dreams." If you pay them, they will come. The biggest problem in paying techs is that you can only offer a top rate that is about 20-25% of your billable hourly rate. If you push that down, you can't pay enough for them to come. In the third party commercial world, I am constantly following up on guys whose obvious previous job involved asking the question, "would you like fries with that?" The reason those guys are there is because better techs are making better money elsewhere, and the other contractor can only field a warm body with a cell phone. With all due respect to the OP, it is probably a better plan to openly pay and track the experience and success of the techs, so that the lower guys are more motivated to learn, think, and correct themselves, reducing callbacks and increasing profitability, so that they can earn the top rate. JMHO.
$25/hr?

C-O-L is key to wages. Here in AZ, at $43 for Jm - it's good (I won't entertain the Local's Commercial Service Tech Jm or the Metal Trades malarkey). L.A. is $1 higher than us & S.D. is $1 lower than us, neither of those make dent on the C-O-L out there! Sent using Tapatalk Pro
What is the licencing process for N.C, l'm currently licensed for pipefitter and refrigeration in Conn and RI. Been thinking of heading south for a while. Thanks

Second to that, the average pay range for an experienced residential technician in my demographic is 25 - 35 hour. Another thing to keep in mind before you start bashing my post. P.S. I was watching the news and thinking about the weather and flooding in your advertised area. I thought how I would feel if I'd "bit". (Taken the job) In no way was I bashing you! I wish you luck and hope you escaped the storm. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
