We just had ours installed by professional HVAC company and so far, we haven't had any problems. Based on replies here, a number of people did have the same issues with it. I'll monitor how mine goes and I'll update here if anything happens.

Good chance you were dealing with series 4 or 5 T6's. Series 6 seems to have very few problems; I haven't had a single problem.

Look on the back where the model number is. The last digit is side ways. That's the series number.

Of course, this all happens in onesy-twosies. Tried tech support through Honeywell and got "I have _never_ heard of this problem" from the help desk. Decided they were no help and went back to my distributor who talked with his Resideo rep and was told "just do a warranty replacement".

I tried putting the faulty stats on our home system (which has a T4), and the system came on, but screen was blank. So after about the 10th failure, I decided to do a little rocket surgery. Pulled the plastic cover off a broken one and a new one that I had confirmed worked. Swapped screens. I don't mean pulled it off the base - I mean literally pried off the plastic casing, unattached the screen cable from the circuit board, and swapped screens. Lo-and-behold, the screen from the bad stat worked fine and the screen from the good stat no longer worked. Swapped again, and same outcome. Turns out there is a problem with the circuit board.

About this time, the Resideo rep asks for more details (manufacturing date, etc). Finally get word back that they are aware of the problem and will continue to honor warranty - which still waste everyone's time responding to thermostat out calls. No recall yet, though.

Honeywell does not support Resideo. Resideo has zero tech support and just replaces everything under warranty. End of story.

You will need to call Residio. Honeywell has nothing to do with them.
If you email me I can send you the number.

    T6 isn't made by Honeywell.

You won 't get anywhere by calling them.

15-18 months, seems to come in waves... I had 3 fail in the last 7-10 days and prior to that it was 2-3 months without a failure but it was 3-4 that time too. I was thinking it might be power surges but I would think there good to 40+V. So for it to get any higher then that on a 277 to 24v trans, that would need to be one hell of a spike and I'm not seeing where there having anything else fail at the same time (TVs-microwaves). What I do know is it's driving me insane at this point.

Thankfully I have not. I've only had one defective unified wall plate which of course they can't replace separately so they replace the whole thermostat.
