Looks neat and clean! Stinks about the pad but you can only do so much for free! Lol did you make the dog house, and did you use round or square duct for your supply and return plenums? What size did you make the return?

I tried to warn them about it. I have to go back and install a couple LED lights for them so I thought I would at least run some 1/2 lag bolts through the foundation underneath the side that’s washed out but that’s as far as I’ll go. I stated it on my invoice that it should be repaired/fixed and they signed off on it but I still think it would’ve be been worth their money. As if I didn’t already do more than I didn’t have to make the job right and not cram everything against each other with no additional charges...

Heating and cooling systems are the last things on people’s minds, until they quit working or it “ruins” their plans or what they’ve imagined in their new/old homes. They expect us to snap our fingers and do the best but cheapest work but never see or hear the components that keeps them and their families comfortable year round. It really gets me when they don’t service them and the coils are filthy and the unit still struggles to perform but they don’t have any idea as to what their doing to the system. It doesn’t surprise me that another contractor went the fastest and easiest way on your job, why would he care? That’s the world we live in now

Well I tried to politely emphasize that I would prefer nothing in front of it but obviously it’s not my yard to have an opinion. I tried telling them that more support under the pad and gravel would look really nice but they didn’t want to ya extra for me to do that.

So you go back to work on it and there is a nice bunch of rose bushes and Bayberrys, right in front of the access panels.

They were talking about planting more trees when I was finishing up the final touches....I asked them kindly to please keep it something small since all my controls and service panels were on the front haha

Just a PKG unit

Got the call for no Air movement, it had a basement style Crawlspace so I checked the duct first. It’s 16” return on an 3.5 ton unit. So then I checked the unit and the control board had fried (very common for these units) but it still came on for heat and even lit the burners. Must have blown the relay for the blower because it didn’t start but regardless i knew to check the HX and of course it was rusted out.

I did measure the pad but underestimated a few things on my install..I did build/seal and run a new return duct system. But I also chose to cost myself more time and money to move their upstairs condenser. The new unit was 6”-8” away from the condenser before I moved it but I felt like I made the right call.
