A vehicle used for quotes, just fine. Occasional service, maybe. It might be improved some with an 8ft bed, a coffin box, and a sliding tray on top of the box. Given no other choice, personally, I'm pretty sure I couldn't be productive working out of that.
Reminds me of the time way back when one of my former employers decided they could save tons of money if they put us all in Escort Station wagons. It was a stupid move that lasted less than a year.

This truck is just for quoting and service calls. We have install vans for condensers and Installs etc.

I brought a retired ambulance about 10 years ago. It is a E350 1 ton with extended roof.

It had only 69,000 miles on it. I was and still am on the department that brought it new in 1984.
Always parked inside and maintained, no rust on it today.
These are built with most components extra heavy duty.

I have scaled it up to 10,000 lbs.

The down side is a 460 CID V8......the best MPG down the highway is 10.
Bad, yes, but I only have to travel about 3000 miles per year.

Also it still looks like an emergency vehicle, good and bad.
Panics some people when parked outside a building, but when driving I have been flagged thru construction sites.
I can just about stand up straight in it.

Still being on the dept, I can get a red light permit to keep the warning lights usable.

IMO... nothing beats a long chassis van...

In my case, an Express 3500 extended.
Yeah, it would be nice to walk rather than crawl...

I think I will keep my 1 ton with a 9 ft bed. I just upgraded from a tahoe in December when my grandpa gave me his old work truck and I ain't looking back. That poor Tahoe was almost rubbing on the tires in the back I had it so loaded. Now I have twice the parts and I can find them too.

You would be suprized how much you can fit in a truck that size

Out of 50 service call,how many are fixed "on the spot"? Out of an 8hr day, how many hrs are you putting in running for parts? Just curious.

Cool truck but where do you put your condenser and furnace. A long bed would be better suited IMHO. Gees. you need a trailer for that truck and will the engine pull it? Glad it works for you. Thank you verry much

We do residential, including installs...
We tried a truck and trailer... did not like the trailer part... even though sometimes we need it.

Hard to beat a full size (or in my case, long) van... all the parts, all the tools, specialty parts and tools, and enough room for a whole system with some flex, metal (or ductboard), etc...

We buy used passenger vans and we do NOT letter them... keep them looking like a church bus.
Our business is 100% referral... so we do not depend on the advertising on the side of the van.
Cuts down on the van being broken into...

I like it sizing down but still in the trade with all the stuff you need to get the job done.

Nicely organized. I’ve had small and I’ve had big. The one constant is whatever the size, I managed to fill it up.

Its funny. I moved way east almost 20 years ago. I leave the keys in the truck, No hockey puck locks on the door, no security screens. don't even have a key to the back door of the house.
