Haven't heard from Buttwheat for quite some time. Wonder if he is still white.

Even if it isn't code in Arizona sealing the liner would set you apart as a pro who does quality work. Where you are located they could hire illegals if they want shoddy work done.

I ran into that problem a while ago. I just went ahead and did it and walked away with a happy custumer.

definately just busting you up man. Ive done lots in Miami with the same material and never had such a complaint unless they are just trying to bust me up. Good luck I know its a major pain.

You must be an installer. Glad you know the code.

I have very little install experience, the bulk of my 30+ year career has been service and/or emergency service. I am more than happy that there are installers out there.

As you may note in post #35, I was interested in this thread to further my knowledge base. Because I try to do everything as professional as possible. Do you have anything worthwhile to contribute to my knowledge base?

It's eye opening that you dont realize that the code isnt the same everywhere.

Its your call whether an unhappy customer means anything or not to your business but its law most places to correct a failed install inspection, certainly it is in Colorado.

Whether it passes inspection or not you are still responsible for for installing it to code. If an inspector passes a job and it is later found to be sub par or not up to code the installer is still responsible for it and the inspector bears no responsibility. (you can be sued, you can't sue the inspector)

Out of curiosity i called my buddy who owns a metal duct shop. In his 30 years of building plenums, only 1 inspector made him go out a butter up the edges on a jobsite. He never butters up the edges , and said its simply stupid to get harrassed by something so small.

He glues one side of insulation, slaps it on, makes sure edges are snug ,pins it, and its complete.

Never had one fall apart yet.

Code or no code, the customer needs to have confidence in his or her installation/installer, sometimes it can be harder to achieve that confidence than it should be

Where I work, we can get FAR more trivial customer complaints
Our official company policy is as follows.

    1) fiercely ***** about the matter amongst ourselves in the office
    2) laugh about it amongst ourselves in the office
    3) leave the office with a smile and go fix the problem wether it truly exists or not

All our advertising is through word of mouth and we almost always have all the work we can handle
