Is everyone else using this for r12 drop in on walk in freezers to maintain 0 degree temp?

A short answer?.......No.

It seems that most folks are going for R409A or more lately this HotShot stuff.

If you are forced to retrofit an existing R12 low temp system MP66 is the best interim replacement performer out there, in my opinion.

That being said, if you have an existing R12 walk-in freezer it must be nearly as old as dirt and long overdue for a complete system changeout. Sell the customer on a shiny new R404A system, collect your money and sleep well at night knowing you've done the right thing. ;)

Chinese restraunt...aint gonna happen...i guess i will be recharging with mp66...but they want it cheap...that aint gonna happen either...:)

Actually this walk in freezer was installed in 1999. Tecumseh condensing unit but no where on this unit is their anything identifying what r12 alternative that they used. Its just listed as r12. Its in very new condition nothing very old. I have no idea why they installed an r12 system over 404.

r-12 or mp-66 is ALOT better on hot kitchen applications like yours. I love mp-66 it is a very good gas

Converted a walkin last year. Required a TXV adjustment.
I prefer it also to Hotshot however I find few using it.
Run across more 414b retros.

Have not run across the need for MP66 in several years, glad for that. I'd recommend as previous and suggest complete replacement. They must've purchased some unit that sat for many years at the suppliers.

HP-80 works really well too. Depends on the mood as to either 66 or 80.

What type txv adjustment might i be looking at? Something tells me im gonna learn chinese by the time i leave that place tomorrow.

HP80 is a low temp interim replacement refrigerant for R502. It's not even close to MP66 which is meant to replace R12 low temp. Don't get them confused or you'll be in for a surprise. ;)

You don't want to be messing with the TXV until it gets close to your desired temperature. Initial startup is a good time to be adjusting the CPR valve (if it has one).

The time waiting for the box to pull down may well be spent reviewing your conversational Chinese handbook. :D
