Well I asked for advice in another thread:

And here is what I ended up doing:

First I put a strip of velcro up inside the chase. I decided the adhesive needed some help so I nailed it on. Then I put a strip of velcro on a piece of attic blanket. Added staples. It hangs like a curtain inside the chase.

In the above picture you can see the two extra pieces of wood I added so I could weatherstrip the entire perimeter of the door.

I added a sheet of plywood as backing to the drywall for support around the edges so it would seal against the weatherstripping. I added hinges and a latch. I had to add a shim under the latch because between the plywood and the weatherstripping the panel stuck out from the wall a bit.

I also added 2 1" thick sheets of styrofoam insulation to fill in the cavity between the door and the duct/insulation. I was going to attach it to the back side of the door but it stayed in there fine and I was getting tired of the job :)

Well that's it, I know it doesn't look that great compared to what you guys put in here but I am damn proud of the job I did! It already feels warmer here in the computer room!

Looks like it worked out well. Had a problem with a cold basement myself once. No one fix works everywhere. Guess thats why R&D is so expensive and time consuming.

Thanks self.

I'm a function over form guy. The panel is in my garage, the rest of which isn't much prettier. Also the door fell down a coupla times between the last thread and the repair which is why it looks a little "rougher around the edges."

I'm the only customer I have to please! Best kind of work to do right?!
