I have a customer that has a condensing unit on the roof of a two story building,,it runs 2 two door reach in's in a bar. About 100 feet Id guess. compressor is a fractional hermetic.

Its always has some kind of problem..Im thinking of relocating the condensing unit to a room behind the bar.

thoughts..

P/S Im going there tomorrow and can get more info.

If done properly 100' is no biggie in my experience.

You could do it...
With that being said the line set would need to be sized properly and have all proper traps or you will be replacing compressors, not to mention condenser would need to be upgraded. ( to a larger HP)

***save yourself the headaches and put it in the room behind thee bar***

Hope this helps

it would be ridiculous to run those boxes over 100 ft. if you could just put the c/u in a room behind them,

How big is this "room" and what's it got for ventilation ?

Glycol System or the back room.

It can be piped that far and high but a lot of engineering will be involved.

This back room is about 8X8, it already has a 1/4 hp unit inside, has a trap door for an entrance.
no other outside source of air..

I believe the rough #'s are 2000 CFM of air per ton of refrigeration for ventilation.

I suppose the closer the better, yet 100 feet isn't all that far and if done right should not be a problem. I service a Subway with a Norlake cooler and a freezer that are piped down a story the length of the building and up 2 stories. Everyone else would have just put the condensing units on top of the box.
