Rock salt is suppose to be up close and personal.

At 15 yards the only thing gonna hurt is the targets ears. They also make sand bags for 12 Ga. I would like to see the same tests with them.

I think they were trying to dispell the old story of shooting/being shot with rock salt.

For sure, today there's a wide assortment of exotic shotgun loads.

I think if he would have packed it right. He would have gotten a whole different outcome.

I think it was fairly accurate.

Without mass, there won't be a whole lot of penetration.

Without penetration, there is no effect.

Now, mix something in with the salt to give a bit of penetration, like maybe fine gravel.....

How about mixing in some light, yet sharp objects. Enough to cut you up a bit, then the salt gets in the wounds! lol

He used the wrong type of "rock salt". The stuff he had was processed for use in the production of a food product. The "rock salt" that I buy is "dirty". Has bits of rock and sand imbedded in the salt and I guarantee stinging flesh wounds at ten yards if not farther.

If I ever have to shoot someone, it sure isn't gonna be with rock salt. Or any of this stuff. Probably the same charges, as if you used 00 buck. But, I can't say for sure.

Basic rule of gun safety:

One NEVER points a gun at someone until there is no other way to 'de-escalate' the situation, deadly force is required, AND the decision to use deadly force has already been made.

At this point (and I really hope and pray this point never happens to me), I will use whatever load is necessary to be sure the other person does not have the ability to sue me...

I ALMOST had to clear leather once. Believe it or not, it involved an ice cream man. He had a hammer, I had the trusty .45.(concealed) Glad he saw things my way.
Next time you're in town, remind me about it.
