best whole house dehumidifier install

we're installing the bigger aprilaire dehumidifier tomorrow am. I'm assuming we want the fresh air install (after reading that the return air install just passes the freshly dehumidified air over the wet coil)... BUT it seems kind of crazy to me... doesn't bringing more humid air into the home defeat the purpose? don't we want to start with conditioned air and bring that down from 70 to 50? instead of starting with 90 external and needing to reduce humidity from there?

Any guidance on the topic would be helpful. We can't run any additional ducting in our walls.

Thanks!

Michelegel
