Nice job! A proper drip leg. Most would just stick a nipple out and hook the flex to it. Or have a drip leg in the horizontal. Good clean work.
Just another Goodman installed professionally. It's all about the install, we have tons of these systems purring without any problems!!
There was a lot more behind the scenes on this one that isn't pictured. The original furnace was a 125K BTU natural draft Payne, new one is a 70K. It had a single 14" return that just shotgunned right into the downstairs living room. They had been living with this screamer for 6 years and have never been able to watch TV comfortably. We added a 2nd 16" return that we routed upstairs through a closet and into the upstairs hallway.
Reduced static from 1.3 on the old system down to a respectable .7 total ESP. Weighed in the charge on the AC and will be going back in a couple of months to fine-tune the charge. The AC is 3.5 tons on this 3700 square foot house. Probably could've gotten away with 3 ton based on the load calc but was right on the edge so went 3.5.
We don't normally install AC around here, it is mainly HP's but he didn't want to spend the extra 700 bucks and was more concerned with comfort as opposed to saving a ton on his utility bills.

Interesting down-flows. I literally never see one in my area.
What I like to read is the way Josh does the load calc, explains what is needed, then ASKS the customer what they want... and does it.
Nice looking clean install!
Now if we can just get Josh to quit being so proud of his load calcs...

I always go with goodman when I do a changeout. Only becuase thats the only brand avalible in my are without being a dealer. The company i work for sells carrier, but getting parts for carrier is alot more of a pain. Nice install man!
I'm totally inexperienced in the downflow technology, except for a mobile home type. Very nice job, where ya get the black clamps for the lineset.
I'm not tolerating Political Correctness anymore, from now on it's tell it like it is.

Proofs in the pudding my friend . Imagine the savings he is going to have with a furnace that is 60% smaller and proper return air with TESP within manufacturer's specs?
The big guys in Seattle are just equipment salesman without any thought of providing solutions. This is where we come in and knock their socks off.
Sad state of affairs with the large companies in our area. Yes, I'm stereotyping, but when you see it on a daily basis..........
Oh, I know what you speak of... But many of the customers just do not care. They cannot be bothered with making decisions like this... they just want it done quickly, they want it cheap, and make it blow cold (or hot) air TODAY. I really wonder sometimes if some of them could even tell the difference between a builder grade furnace and a VS furnace.
I guess we do what we can for the customers who choose us... and let the rest go.

Nice neat straight forward install.

Like I stated earlier. It may look straight-forward on the outside but there was a ton of stuff behind the scenes.
The return took me a good 10 hour day to install. Thanks for the kind words. We really are trying to turn things around here in Seattle.
To Seattle consumers: It isn't always about price. Quality is very important!!!
You use a tubing bender on the line set or solder in 90's?
I like that hold-down on the condenser. never seen something like that before.
Good work.
Did you do a combustion analysis? If not they may not save much over their old one. Most new furnaces come severely underfired.
And BTW where are the Bryant Evolution systems we were promised pics of? LOL
There's your tag line Josh, "Changing the HVAC industry for the better, one system at a time!"

I don't agree with your first statement. We don't do combustion analysis until we come back for our 1st maintenance. Upon initial startup we do set the gas pressures properly and, of course, make sure system static is operating within manufacturers' spec. I have never in my 16 years had a new 90+ furnace with poor combustion.
To answer the Bryant question, they have been a tough sell against the Goodman systems because we get crappy pricing.
Then you simply don't know what the numbers mean when you do stick the CA probe in the flue pipe. Or else you aren't checking them with a CA. Your customers could be saving a LOT more money with thier new systems.
If the O2 is above 9% it has poor combustion. 80% or more new 90+ furnaces will be 10% O2 and higher when set up according to manu specs.
Enough hijacking, I won't beat it anymore. Unless we start a thread in the pro section.
