Sparky's weren't the last one's out of the bar.....but.....I'll let you fill in the blank.......
The one I always liked was 'I just f--ing put power to it....anything else is not my problem'....then you find out they couldn't read the nameplate and undersized the conductor....and aren't on 24 hour service...

Believe me, Doug, I have no love for sparky.

Called him at 2ish yesterday. Hey, this breaker you all put in won't hold for more than 5 minutes and it's running about 125 degrees surface temp in a 55 degree room with all the covers off the panel and a fan running on it. I'm keeping the amperage under 70% of rating and it still trips.

Sparky's answer. I can be there by 7 or 7:30.

Thanks, scooter. That will be a BIG help.

He has no concept of the magnitude of what we are dealing with.

Hospitals need power 100% of the time.

    Server rooms same thing.

Grocery stores and cold storage facilities are pretty close to next on that list.

I don't think that they get it.

Funny how a short conversation with the store owner got a LOT faster results. I'll be there at 7 turned into see you in 10 minutes.

Bubz, having been a part of both viewpoints, I may be able to capsulize the point for you.

One of the ideas surrounding the founding of the US was a non-intrusive government based on the principles of freedom and liberty, where each citizen could partner with others to find their most satisfying and prosperous destiny, based upon their gifts, inspiration, inventiveness, and courage in the environment of a representative republic. The idea of these "unalienable rights" as coming from God, and not government, is a key idea. Conservatism strives to return us to the principles of individual responsibility, smaller government, lower taxes, and the foundational ideas of the constitution.

Liberalism today is based on the "progressive movement" of the late 1800's and the early 1900's, and the idea that everything in our lives is best when precisely controlled, metered, and guided by a benevolent dictatorship of a smarter-than-you ruling class of elite legislators, executives, and regulators who decide their actions based on perception of their own minds and hearts instead of the minds and hearts of "we, the people," and they in turn attempt to determine levels of fairness, compassion, wisdom, and sufficiency. In essence, Liberals believe that you only have the rights that they, the government, decide to confer upon you and that rights therefore do not come from God.

To make it more clear, I used the example of teaching a man to fish. A lazy man will never take the time to learn to fish if someone is always there giving him a fish without his own effort. If the person giving him that fish is a government entity, there is no personal accountability or interaction between common sense individuals to determine how much that man tried to obtain a fish on his own or if he is able or unable to do so, again, based on personal interaction and common sense.

The unaccountable "free fish" mentality is only one example of how compassion cannot be properly expressed in government policy. Compassion needs the individual and small group non-governmental action that brings accountability into the picture. This is why the so-called "faith based" compassion groups are so much more effective than welfare.

Some folks are angered by the fact that some of us have more fish than others, and they mistakenly believe that the government should be an arbiter of how much you and I have, based on Karl Marx' principle from his Communist Manifesto: "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need." This works well as an imperative of charity, but it is a very bad idea for a national political policy.

The bottom line: Conservatives today believe that you as the free individual are the BEST arbiter of your life, and liberals today believe that government can do a better job than you because it is led by what they consider to be smarter people. It is a philosophy of elitism, and not equality.

    I hope that helps.

I opened my computer for maintenance, and I found a science project.

So, I took it outside and got the N tank out of the truck and gave it a thorough cleaning.

I got inspired and ordered up some more RAM for it and my dad's computer, as well.

And, I'm still searching for tool bargains to replace the tools I lost this past summer in the truck theft. A LOT of time spent on ebay.
