    Hmm Science word

What is the word that a hvac guy could use that describes a major temperature swing by the thermostat. Like it over heats or runs up the temperature and then it waits till the house is cold before it cuts back on. Not temperature swing, that is not the word I am looking for but temperature swing best describes the word that I am looking for.

    Thanks

The thermostat is not very accurate and is causing the temperature in the room to be very cyclical.

The deadband could be tiny, or large.

I don't think their is a single word that describes that??

Are you trying to sell a customer a new t-stat? A word that comes to mind is overshoot. "The tstat is overshooting its setpoints"
