I've only heard of one installed and the compressor was bad at start up.

We install a good bit of Daikins and the only problems we have had so far are flare joints, none with the Daikins themselves.

I've handled mitsubishi for years with very few problems. Carrier also has a good product right now. Some have been less than desireable in the past but this one seems to be pretty good.

Nylog is good stuff! Better if it does not get into the refrigerant any more than is avoidable.

The flare ends in pre-made mini linesets are junk... I cut them off and do proper flares with a proper flaring tool. Flares are not an issue for me.
Most mini's do not like brazing... I avoid it as much as I can.

Just took a 4 hour Daikin min split workshop. Was impressed. Just installed one to replace a worn our Fuj & the install was easier than the Fuj. Daikin makes their own compressor. That I did not know. I'm going to continue to install them over the others.

I went to a job where the builder installed an emerson that had several problems over the first 2 years. The builder decided to change it out and our salesman sold him a carrier. He talked him up on how much better it was, and they sent me to do the swap. Unboxed the Carrier and it was identical to the Emerson. I was so embarassed, but somehow either the builder didn't notice or just didn't say anything.

Daikin was doing mini's long before mini's became popular.

I worked on an old one 20 years ago. It had 4 heads (indoor units).

Daikin's been around before the 60's. They primarily did cheap hotel/motel installation in the South West of the country.

I've got an old senior home with some of the original Daikin's running since the 70's with no maintenance. The ones that have failed failed at the U turns in the outside coil.

In Europe and Japan Daikin is considered the best brand, and they have only mini-splits. I don't know how Daikin aquisition of Goodman will affect the quality, but to me you can not go wrong with Daikin

Daikin is in the top 3 in quality.......and price.

I've worked with more of their VRV systems than the mini splits. The only issues have been installation induced.

And full blown commercial VRV systems, and ducted inverter drive systems with a conventional air handler, and the Altherma water heating/hydro heating/cooling system, and....

Yes, Daiken bought Goodman. Be interesting to see what changes happen to Goodman products.

Someone said they expect to see Daiken compressors in them. I believe Daiken makes refrigerants; if they make R-410 units will probably be supplied with Daiken freon in them.

I thought so. Goodman here has a big push on the mini splits, figured there was a reason
