    Hello.

I have never seen one book on "everything about chillers".

So to start off --> How deep you want to go?

All of the air-conditioning & refrigeration apprentice books have a very light weight chapter (which will get you started):
"Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology" by Whitman, Johnson, Tomczyk.
"Modern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning" by Althouse, Turnquist, Bracciano

"Principles of Refrigeration" by Dossat has a good chapter on the refrigeration cycle. Which I think is useful.

All of the manufacturers (YORK, Trane, Carrier) have Operations, Installation, and Overhaul Handbooks. They sometimes come with the equipment. The local tech rep has them. These are very nice.

YORK and Carrier have courses on Operations and Overhauling. Entech (Garland, Texas) also has overhaul courses.

Centrifugal Compressors are basically big industrial fans. Do a web search for Trane's "Air Conditoning Fans, Air Conditioning Clinic". Or Trane's "Fans and their Application in Air Conditioning. Applications Engineering Seminar". They talk about Fan Laws, and Surging.

Techno design nerds use books like "Centrifugal Compressor Design and Performance" by David Japikse. And "Compressor Surge and Stall" by Ron Pampreen. These are for men who design compressors and turbochargers for a living.

Hudson Technology www.hudsontech.com and redicontrols.com talk about removing excess oil from refrigerant.

Machine Design information (gears, labyrinth seals, mechanical seals, o-rings, ball bearings, sleeve bearings, thrust bearings)--> you can start with college books for mechanical engineering. Beyond that you have to go to John Crane for mechanical seals, Parker for O-Ring Design Handbook (on the net), and others.

If you have lots of time to read this one is pretty extensive.

To be honest, the section on Chillers from Modern wasn't great. The PDF's posted here are much nicer. I'm just doing a side-by-side with Modern and that HVAC water chiller PDF...No comparison

Also, Thank you for all of the excellent resources!!!
