that sucks dude good luck finding something else though
Hey Guys and Gals... I dont know if the name will be rejected on this posting if it is email me at hvacdude74@gmail.com.
When I graudated from my trade college wanting to get into the hvac business I was wondering if anyone would hire me being late into the season, July. But I sent out some resumes and with luck Fire-N-Ice hired me as a apprentice hvac tech.
The job was a good learning experenice I hooked up with a team mate that has been doing hvac work since he was 16 years old. Anyways...
I started seeing little changes in my paychecks and invoices. I noticed that the invoice we had turned in were changed (the hours not the total payment). When I approached my service manager about this he stated that he could not pay us the full hours and we would just have to deal with it.
Later they (the company) slashed our hours in half (e.g if we billed 4 hours on a job they would pay me 2 hrs and my partner 2 hrs). Also they cut our pay by 10 dollars.
Knowing this was illegal we (my partner and I) went to our service manager to talk about these issues. In short he told us if we dont like it we could go to the labor board, which we did.
My service manager fired me, due to a no call no show, which is BS and Chicken "you know what"! Every job that calls for a reference is told I was let go for stealing (I had a friend call pretending to be a hvac company).
Please dont waste your time with this company! Just a warning. If Talk doesnt allow the company name email for the name.
Take care!

Seriously if you filled a complaint with the labor board and he fired you for whatever reason you could take him to court and sue for lost wages and backpay. that is VERY Illegal
Ive been round long enough to know that most companies, no matter how much you try to help them out will try to screw you over to make a buck. Trust me i was dumb enough to volunteer my time to do **** for the company only for them to send me on my ass packing
thats your problem (as with most hvac companies) its all based on the honesty policy. Yea employee's do tend to write down extra hours here and there. Only way to avoid that is to have a system of clocking in and out from the van
unless you can prove that he is adding hours to his sheet you have to pay him for what he put down, no way around that unless you wanna get the labor board involved
yes when I send a service tech out to fix a piece of equipment and he get a call back or when a installer does not install a piece of equipment to code. Then he goes back on his own time. My guys are not paid to rush and are not paid peace work they are paid fair wages with a clear understanding that we need to do job right the first time and if it takes them a bit more time to fix job right then do it.We had been getting alot of call backs and was costing me alot of money so I had to inforce this. I would never take money off a guys check for any other reason then listed above. I sent a installer back to a house because on my inspection it was rushed and done sloppy yet I was charged 10 hour for a high efficient furnace with a humidifier which to me is not the time it took him to do it, but I sent him back to clean up a few things and he was being paid for that. When I went back second time, it was still had few issues and did not complete about 3 items that I had written down and still charged me 4 hours. So now he will be going back on his own time. I have not yet had 1 employee take me to Labour board, but if they want giver. I spent many years in the union and treat my guys better then any union contractor that I have worked for. Better yet if they have a problem with the way I run my business, there are 30 other companies looking for guys and they all know they can probably quit today and have job tomorrow. I am a pretty fair guy.
Do it right the first time.
if the dude is fixing stuff o0n his own time, not on clock, and he gets hurt, how would he get compy?
any time my hands touch tools for employer , i am getting paid
whoa, thats really lame.
but can you really take a company name called "fire n ice" seriously?
lol, sounds like a wwf tag team duo.
when life throws me a banjo, i play it
i had all kinds of problems with a different Vegas company who actually tried to pay me below minimum wage and deny my unemployment.
i won the unemployment ...
unfortunatley Nevada and California hvac companies are pure crap.
at this point i'm just trying to make it to my contractor's licence
