It's not posted there either... the strike is about Nationals voting like they actually go out on strike.

The MCA wants give backs. and wage freeze.

Heaven forbid that someone with a contract might have to suffer the same things as the rest of us.

The NJ teachers had an opportunity to agree to a one-year pay freeze, and now they are howling (and spending $7 mil of the member's dues) to complain about a new governor actually doing what he campaigned on, because the state is facing $11 Billion in deficits.

And how about California reducing salaries from $65,000 to $15,000 (for state workers) a year by mandating the minumum wage law. Even managers are caught up in that one with salary cuts to $455.00 a week.It won't be long before we are all paying for that.

I was looking to hear more from those who are in the know about this perticular strike rather then a from bunch of freon jockeys offering opinions that don't relate to the subject. But what the heck it's all in fun work is slow for most of us, and on a nice saturday afternoon the internet is far better then the beach.

Let me put on my racing silks and get my whip out, and we'll continue the ride... for fun and enlightenment. Put your riders up, please...

One of our biggest problems we now face is the growth of government, and the employees of that government that make over and above the competitive wage and benefits of those who actually make and fix things for a living. That would include your typical "freon jockey."

Whether union or non-union, we "jockeys" are providing a service that represents economic value. When someone works for the government as an administrator, clerk, regulator or other public employee, is is rare that anything of economic value is being created or serviced. Usually, these jobs are created by legislation, rather than economic need, and the costs of those jobs are borne by the taxpayer. That's you and me.

So, if public employees find themselves facing large cuts in wages and benefits, it is because the levels of compensation to which they have become accustomed are now unsustainable in an economy that is increasingly hostile to the private sector, a sector whose activities create the wealth that has established our standard of living.

We are driving our jobs from the US, whether those jobs involve drilling for the lifeblood of the entire world in the Gulf of Mexico, or preparing to cap and tax that lifeblood here while providing no penalties in places like India. We can expect to hemorrhage jobs for years to come if we continue to follow the pied piper of lemmings, the so-called "environmental" movement. It is a movement of economic suicide, since changes to energy sources cannot have their costs shifted to anyone else but the consumer. The consumer pays for everything, and once again, that's you ands me.

We need only look at Greece to see what is coming if we continue to grow government, entitlements, and public sector jobs that are not reflective of the level of compensation that such jobs can bring in the private sector.

Greece is a non-producing economy, and we dare not move any farther in that direction.

Interesting. It's called the Mechanical Contractor's Association, rather than being a "local" or a part of the "UA." Is this an alternative group to a union?

Ah. So these guys are the ones that hire the union members. I get it.

If you mean the plane on top, that would be the one with the pilot who was landing but did not see the Cessna who was already on approach to the runway, just about to land.

I used this story to help my flight students avoid a similar, or much worse, outcome.
