Does anybody have a recent leak detector they really like? The most recent ones we have at the shop are Fieldpiece SRL2 and they seem OK but I'd like some input on what others are using. Thanks.

Hey guys i only use nitrogen. Its what we used in the factory when i worked on the line at Marine air systems. For a/c systems i pressurize anywhere between 350-450 psi and u will find the leak instantly. Now on refrigeration well all depends what kind of evap coil you have oh and no more than 150 psi.

Well - H10PM it is then. What has been your experience with life of the sensor? It looks like the tuneup kit comes with a bunch of filters, a single sensor, some tips and flow indicator balls - should be all I need?

Tifzx1 seems to be better than most but technology gets better every year so my favorite seems to change with every new one I get.

Hey, all H10 pm fans....does it make a difference, between the Yokogawa ,Bacharach, or Mars...
does it really matter?I found the yokagawa cheaper.
I have the 110v model, but,only use for self contained stuff....

Even when I do use a leak detector, I can only get a general idea where the leak is. Soap and water is still going to have to tell me where the leak is. At the company that I work at, none of the techs ever use leak detectors, either. The 400 ton units that I worked on in the Navy were low pressure chillers. An R-410A will blow much better bubbles than that R-114 from the same size leak.

I have the Bacharach and Mars units. there is no difference between them other than the name on the label.

could be wrong, but it's my understanding yokogawa makes the H10 for several companies, who turns around and relabels it. my H10 is labeled GE, but is made by yokogawa.
patents have ran out long ago. so it's possible for other mfg to make identical unit.

I have the D-Tek select great leak detecter don't care for the rechargeable batteries should have been set up to use "2" D-cell batteries like their cheaper heated diode type leak detecter.
