Some old timers used r11 to flush. There is a current product called rx11 flush that you can use that doesn't really contain any r11. That stuff is expensive and a pain to use...much more so than nitro. Don't use that contractor...he sounds like a bit of a hack if he told you nitro brazing is too hard.

Good point, I feel the poster might be the one trying this nonsense. There is not a whole lot if any hvac contractors dumb enough to do this sort of thing....well any that are still in business that is.

I was taught if you have to flush a system to flush it with a commercially available flushing agent. You still have to use nitrogen or argon to get it out of the system. I know at one time r-12 was how it was done. I for one would avoid any contractor who says he does things like this. It kinda makes me wonder what else this guy does the wrong way.
