Hi guys,
I have been researching on how to become an HVAC Tech like you guys and I would appreciate lyour opinion and advice. I am currently working as a 4th Class Building guy in Surrey. I have 3 years in the trade but I am very interested on how to get in the HVAC trade as an apprentice. Just wondering how to go about it. I have found 2 schools Jarts and BCIT but i would like to do it by learning on the job and go to school while at it. Any advice on how what is the best way to go about this. Thanks guys..!

Most unions here are a part of the UA, or United Association. In Philly, the union is the former Steamfitters Union. Steamfitters is still part of the logo, and HVAC Techs were added later.

Pick up the phone book in your area and call the HVAC contractors in the area and ask them if there union and if there hiring, or better yet take a day off form your regular routine and go around town in person and knock on doors you never know even with the way things are now there might be a contractor who might need to hire a apprentice.
I remember when I was in the Union and for X amount of journey men we had to have 1 apprentice on the job. I don't know the rule for HVAC union rules but it may be similar.
