Looks a little dry.
First job for the new company was fixing this lol
Looks a little dry.
That there is what we call a "Catastrophic Failure."
"Well it was making some noise, but I didn't think anything of it....."
Ya this was a big air handler at a grocery store, 8' long shaft two blowers, one was completely destroyed, I didn't even get to ride along today, just made me work lol
At least you dont have to spend time getting the bearing off the shaft..
New bearings, get the shaft repaired, new wheel, and that Trane should be good to go..
Oh and it blew the belts, not sure why so they put one and and fired it back up lol, the race was still stuck on it, there closing the store in 2 months, there building the new one as we speak.
Those are the times you need coveralls and gloves to put on. You will go home black from head to toe......
Ya it was a pretty messy deal, grease and dust everywhere, 12' In the air
Holy crap.
Keeping in mind I'm resi:
How in the heck did that tear through that metal plate!?!
That must be one freaking huge wheel.
"Better tell the sandman to stay away, because we're gonna be workin on this one all night."
"Dude, you need more than 2 wires to a condenser to run a 2 stage heatpump."
"Just get it done son."
Dad adjusted
It's pics like this that make me question trying to go from manufacturing these to service. Much easier to install bearings and shafts when the unit is new, only half assembled and sitting on the floor.
The shaft was 5" diameter but hollow I'm sure, it was pretty heavy still. The blower cage looked the same, and it had zero fins on that wheel also, it was pretty messed up.
Sounds like it's gonna take a crew to get things out and back in if its that high in the air. Should be fun!
We put it together to get heat going, store was pretty cold, there going to run it since there shutting down in 2 months
Hope it makes it....
Only half the bearing failed.
Remove the 2 bolts, raise the shaft up & rotate bearing 180 degrees & replace the bolts.
Voila!
Another 5 years of service.
