    Adding R12 to 401A?

I have a commercial1 door freezer that has 401A in it and needs a charge. Can I add R12?

Why would you do that? If its flat then yes you could put 12 in it. After fixing leak, replacing drier, pulling good vaccume, and checking TXV if it has one. I would not do it myself though. Assuming it was originally an R12 unit anyway, so near end of its life cycle. Put the 401a back in and recommend they start budgeting for replacement.

In the first place, you shouldn't have 401A in a freezer. It's a replacement for medium temp R-12. You should use 401-B. This will give you proper performance in a low temp application.
Experience is what you have an hour after you need it.
