They are certainly available. Unfortunately third party Home Automation System integration is still sketchy at best. For now I've had to settle for using non-infinity setups that use conventional controlers so when I want to go the home automation route. Disappointing as the infinity systems really do have some awesome features though.

Track down... as in, are these readily available? Control4 has released a driver to control the Bryant Evolution series with the addition of a SAM. My HVAC guy says that he can not locate (or hasn't bother to look for) the SYSTXCCCAT501. Is this available for purchase somewhere?

I checked today on prices and availability. No such luck on the CAT5 version. They could not find the p/n. The Skytel and WIFI (SYSTX CC WIFI 01) versions are available. List price on the WIFI version is about $900. I can't/won't mention dealer cost.

I may have more info at the end of the week.

Carrier dealers should't have any trouble obtaining it through normal distribution channels.

OK, did some internet searching. It appears that the SAM module part #'s are wrong in the -B control brochures for CAT5.

CARRIER Infinity (WIFI): SYSTX CC RWF 01
Carrier Infinity CAT 5 : SYSTX CC RCT 01--- Was SYSTX CC CAT5 01
Carrier Skytel: SYSTX CC SAM 01

The Bryant Evolution part numbers should then be:

Bryant Evolution (WIFI): SYSTX BB RWF 01
Bryant Evolution CAT 5: SYSTX BB RCT 01---> Was SYSTX BB CAT5 01
Bryant Skytel: SYSTX BB SAM 01

They appeared to change the daughter card; (Skytel, CAT5 or wireless)

SAM must be used with the -B controls with software version 14 or higher

I am new to this forum, but I have some answers about the SAM, which could help some people.

- The SAM model with ethernet cabled connection, being called previously SYSTXCCSAMCAT501 is now called SYSTXCCRCT01, see http://www.xpedio.carrier.com/idc/gr...ccrct-01pd.pdf
- The SAM model with WIFI connection , being called previously SYSTXCCSAMWIFI01 is now called SYSTXCCRWF01, see http://www.xpedio.carrier.com/idc/gr...ccrwf-01pd.pdf
- the ascii protocol information can be found at http://www.xpedio.carrier.com/idc/gr...1-20156-25.pdf

Using the SYSTXCCRCT01 requires a "--B" Series of User Interface SYSTXCCUID01--B (version 14 software or higher) or a "--B" Series User Interface SYSTXCCUIZ01--B (version 14 software or higher).
My SYSTXCCUIZ01 was installed in 2008 summer and is a SYSTXCCUIZ01--B with version 14 of the software.

Moreover, Carrier has developped a simulation of their web access to the SAM (about 100$/year), see http://www.myinfinity.carrier.com/Re...emo/Login.aspx then click login on the right of the page and it goes to the real demo page, where you can change your system settings by web simulation.

I bought the SYSTXCCRCT01 two weeks ago, and am supposed to get it next week. I have written a full software to control my Infinity Carrier system from my PC trough the RS232 port on the SAM and a COM port of my PC. I test my software
with a SAM simulator that I also wrote, but I am impatient to connect my software to a real system, instaed of a SAM simulator.

Wow, thread from the past! I've sold 2 now and myinfinity.com wins awards for websites that suck! Huge picture of a breakfast nook? Tiny homeowner data?

Can't even update the copywrite - 2006?

View Only one zone at a time, but thank goodness for that breakfast nook picture!!!? No data logging? $100 year for what!! Neither client is going to renew and the very expensive sam becomes very difficult to sell with such a lame website.

Fully agree with you. 100$/year for accessing by web your infinity system once or twice a year is a non sense, not to say more, as the price of the SAM itself. I only bought the SAM for the RS232 port, and write myself the software for controlling my system. I will see infomation for 4 zones at a time, and the full week schedule for the maximum 8 zones in the same page with copy between zones, days, week, periods of days.

Moreover, I receive my SAM today, the SYSTXCCRCT01. and at about 900$, they don't give the 24VAC transformer anymore, indicating that that piece is discontinued!!! They advice a part SYSTXNNXFM01 at RCD that I don't find.

I look in documentation, and no trace of power requirement in VA or mA to dimension the transfomer.

Any idea of that power requirement or may I connect the SAM to the internal 24v transformer of my carrier gas furnace ?

I do mention money not to do price comparison as I use the "about" term ffor the value in $, and I do not mention the dealer name. Other people in the forum already gave approximative prices.
For the diy, I agree but I am forced to do that as the carrier dealer accepts to sale me the SAM and of course takes its quotation on the sale, but refuses to do the installation. Someone else in the forum already mentionned that fact, because dealers are afraid if they do the installation to be also responsible in case of disfunctionnings, and they generally have no computer skills in their staffs, who can deal with IP, firewall, network problems.

Yep, I had to set up both of the SAM's I've sold, and suspect they're the only 2 in upstate NY. Definitely need some experience with routers and computers.

In fact the tech's couldn't believe they didn't need to touch dip switches with the Infinity communicating controller - they've been setting dips on all Infinity installs. Pretty psyched when I explained this to them.

Carrier doesn't do a great job of explaining or making setup easy (lockouts, etc...). There are a lot of different menu's in the setup.

This is a paradigm shift, we'll get there.

Carrier SAM Installation and Integration/Use...

I am about ready to purchase the Carrier SAM SYSTXCCRWF01 system for my home (i have two separate carrier infinity heat pump systems without zoning).

I am very interested in getting the following setup:
a) internet control of my 2 heatpump systems
b) rs232 output so i can integrate it into home automation systems (ie. crestron, etc)

Does anyone have an pros/cons or things I need to look out for before buying this?

I realize the web portal is very poorly designed... has anyone integrated this to their home automation system (ie. can anyone send me the interface format/commands that come out of the SAM RS232 port as ouput?

Thanks.
