Follow advise given.

Now you say well if I buy the best brand then there won't be any busted parts to replace. Same parts in all units baring compressors. So even the best brands fail at times.

As far as R-22 and R410-a, its hard for me to believe that somewhere out there somebody isn't going to find a drop-in replacement for 22 at the same operating temps/press.

There is already replacement refrigerant for R22 systems, so service for the next 20 years is not a problem. R410a systems will last longer when correctly installed.
    > SCROLL COMPRESSORS: Scroll compressors are the darling of the industry.Although the technology has been around since the early part of the 20th century, these compressors have just recently become popular. These compressors require only two parts to compress gas:a fixed scroll and and orbiting scroll.Because of the lack of parts compaired to reciprocating compressors the scroll compressor is (10)percent more efficient is less likely to experience mechanical failure and operates bother smoother and quieter. SCROLL COMPRESSORS,have a superior tolerance to liquid refrigerant, unlike reciprocating compressors which run the risk of "liquid slugging"(liquid slugging means that there is too much liquid refrigerant in the system which makes it inefficient). Scroll compressors can also handle debris and foreign matter without being damaged.Copeland scrolls are SOLID COMPRESSORS. I hope you read this TACO HEAD!

I read this and thought, I just went on a service call last week on one. It was the first time I had ever seen one in the past 6 yrs I have been doing service calls.

I found a link where you can see a picture of one. If you look on the sears website it looks like they do sell carrier so I am not sure where this lady got her kenmore, I asked and she said she just bought the house.

    Just a little FYI
