do I need a vent for the washing machine?

    Hoi,
Including a pic of my drain set up for the washing machine. The downpipe has the HVAC condensate draining into it and the washing machine water. The copper pipe empties into the main sewer line which is connected to the whole house. There is a vent out the roof. Does the washing machine pipe need a vent, too? Very ocassionally there is a sewerish smell in the basement. That is a couple times a year?
    thanks. george
