    Tired of having parts changed

Trane 5 ton heat pump older model.
Started off that in heat when unit came on in heat after a minute went into by pass. Loud noise, High Pitched.
First the reversing valve was changed. Then expansion valve was changed. Still doing same thing. Only does this on heat. After a few minutes compressor quits but fan on top and air handler still running. A/c guys can't figure it out.

I second Chris W's comments. Just how cold is it outside when this happens ?

From your description the "A/C Guy" is a replaceman rather than a repairman.

I suggest checking the Contractor Locator Map for Professionals in your area. If there are none close I would then look for a Service Contractor that does both Residential and Commercial (with emphasis on Commercial and specifically heat pumps). You need a quailfied professional not a "Parts Changer".

Maybe you need to get some heat pump guys then.

Make sure the indoor coil is a match and has a HP TXV.

Ask them how much airflow you have across the indoor coil. You need to be close to 400 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) per ton.

If you have 200 CFM per ton for example, you will certainly have the problems you are describing.

And yes, get a real pro that can actually diagnose what exactly is wrong and replace just the correct part.
