    Installing Lennox Media Air Cleaner

    Hi,

Installing Lennox HCC 16-28 cabinet to my horizontal bottom return SL280V furnace. The manual calls for a 28.5" x 3" side seal strip since the filter cabinet is 3 inches wider than the furnace (17.5" > 14.5").

Any recommendations on how this will install? What would I use as a seal strip?

    Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the info, I had two installers with two opinions.

One suggested I needed a transition, is that necessary? Seems like a lot of work if just sealing out the cabinet will work.

    Any thoughts?

It would depend upon if you have the room for a transition that would be best to get complete coverage of the filter

preferably the transition would be the best option. The reason for this is it would allow the WHOLE filter opening to be utilized to help bring in the most amount of air to the system.

as far as the filter is from the side of the cabinet a bank off plate will work fine.
