On the advice of members of this board, we put in a dual fuel 2 stg VS 80% Rheem unit in our attic with a new Rheem heat pump. This has worked fine with a Vision Pro 8320 thermostat.

We are now planning on replacing the basement/first floor system with a Rheem Mod and a heat pump. Has anyone done this? Is it a waste of the Mod? What thermostat options will work? Our contrator wants to put in the Vision Pro just as we did on our second floor unit and let the 1st heat stage be the HP with the second and third stages tied to the Mod furnace.

Is the Mod thermostat capable of dual fuel?

A reliable source sez a new Mod stat will be out in the near future with dual fuel capability. Hope so cuz we just sold a dual fuel Mod system!!! We're gonna put it on a Vision Pro for now and swap out whenever the new one comes around. With the VP you get 3 stages timed up which is 1 more stage than the competition can offer.
